Summary:
I think this torch is to Cheap, of course with cheapest price you don't get the great. This torch is nothing special. I Hate to use it. I hope no one buy this product again. This product is to bad, with short life of battery, because it use a 6 Volt bulb, if u change with hallogen it can more shrotly. The brightness is to bad, not more than 15m. Petzl is the great brand but saxo is the bad headlamp in earth

Summary:
For those of you looking for a headlamp...DON NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT! Although inexpensive it costs little more to buy a Petzl Micro or Princeton Solo. Those are headlamps. The Saxo is a cheap flashlight attached to a headband, nothing more. I have used this light on several camping trips only to find: the batteries run down very fast AND the on/off mechanism is very buggy. It has often turned itself on inside my pack. I have to turn a battery around to make sure this doesn't happen.

Summary:
For me, this torch has been a real disappointment. It was cheap, but for my needs, I should have got a Zoom, or even a Duo.
For starters, it has an annoying habit of bopping around, because there is no strap over the head. It is held on only by the horizontal strap around the head, which is inadequate.
The torch just doesn't work with a helmet. It can't be secured in place, because the torch curves to your head, not the shape of a helmet. This renders it useless for caving, canyoning, and any other pursuit that needs protection for your head.
The bulb frequently comes loose. A minor grievence, and easely fixed.
The vertical direction of the light can not be altered. By contrast, the Zoom has a hinge which allows the direction of the beam to be moved up and down.
Finally, I haven't been particularly impressed with the battery life. Most of my friends have Zooms, and they seem to last much longer.
The handle shape of the torch does make it a little easier to hold in your hand. But I never bother detaching the head strap - it doesn't really get in the way.
The torch would be adequate for car camping. But if you want a versatile torch for more serious outdoor pursuits, don't get this torch. Petzl do make great torches, this is not one of them.

Summary:
for the price, this is a great headlamp. though the brightness and range may not be adequate for something like caving, it is good enough for backpacking. gotta love going hands free!! the design is great because it can be comfortably used as a headlamp, or you can remove the strap and use it as a traditional flash light.
