Summary:
I just used the pack on a 3 day 20+ mile hike on Devil's Path in the Catskills, NY. It worked out great. Plenty of room for my sleeping bag, too much food, raingear, stove, camera etc. The side compartments are big enough for a Platypus w/ hoser attachment and anything else you can think of. The bag is very easy to adjust while on your back and the ventilation system works well. I am very happy with this bag, it fits my 5'7" frame like a glove.

Summary:
Well, I got the 2000 model. The fit and carry are like the difference between night and day. New much more breathable material against your back, and you really notice the difference. None of the fit and tensioning issues I experience with the model I borrowed. This is an excellent pack for an overnighter, and based on the spare space I had on my last over nighter I could go for an extended trip. The only down side I can complain about is the lack of a hydration pocket. I remedied that by placing one in it. Just took the pack device camelback has and hooked it to the enternal stays. I like this pack!

Summary:
Borrowed this pack from a friend for a test drive. This is a good pack for the overnight trips and maybe a short three to four day trip.

I don't know how to adjust this pack, my body is deformed, or the pack is not comfortable? We went on a 17.9-mile hike, that was both up hill, (4.5) mile stretch at one point, and of course down hill. While the pack is more comfortable than my old ALICE (military), I still experienced some cramping in the upper shoulder area. I would try an adjustment and it would help for a little while and it would basically come loose, I would then have to readjust it. I don't know if this is a problem for all packs but that is kind of irksome. I have to keep this information in prospective, the only other pack I have extensive experience with is an ALICE pack and the Ophir kicks the ALICE in the buttocks! I would never have been able to keep the pace we set with the old military pack. About 3 miles an hour. All zippers held up and the pack material appeared to be abrasion resistant. I would really have appreciated a hydration pocket though. I think my final verdict is still out with this pack but, for the money, and realistic expectations I would recommend the pack for use
