Summary:
Serratus Summit Long:

- rugged. The construction and materials lead me to believe that this pack will outlast me.
- cheap @ $170CDN + applicable tax & shipping
- roomy. 75L + an extension collar that adds about 15L
- fairly light @ 4.8lbs
- comfortable, 45lbs (about 1/4 my body weight) carried easily on a 46 kilometer overnighter
- roomy pocket in the lid
- plenty of compression/stabilization straps, floating lid, ice axe loops, shock cord system on the body of the pack
- the nearest thing I have to a complaint relates to the side mesh pockets. I guess they are meant to be wand pockets or tent pole pockets. With the pack fully loaded I could just squeeze the bottom 2 inches of my 1L nalgene into the pocket. I used a small carabiner to secure the nalgene to a compression strap, so it worked out fine.

Conclusion: Very happy with this purchase. My large ALICE pack is now hunting only.

Quick replies to email enquiries and helpful on the phone. I haven't had a piece of gear I bought at MEC fail so I don't know what their customer service is like under those conditions. I'm guessing it's top notch like every other aspect of MEC.

Summary:
having abused alot of equipment over the years, i really appreciate the seratus packs. they have a lot of room and are very comfortable. i have a problem with bringing too much stuff and it holds everything. at the price it cant be beat, similar packs (size, durability, reliability) would cost at least 150 to 200 dollars more and it is canadian made to boot.

Summary:
I found this pack to be quite comfortable, and durable. Considering the price, I found that It was strong, and spacious. I was able to carry my own sleeping bag, food, clothing and a THREE person tent! as well as all the other wonderful little toys that go with backpacking. Can't beat it for a 170 bucks!

Summary:
The Serratus Summit is one tough customer, thanks to the reinforced cordura outer. This is a solidly built pack. And, the price was terrific. BUT... there is a problem: I was eventually forced to return the pack because there is a severe lack of padding on the back panel. The suspension was sorely lacking because on the Summit there is almost nothing, by way of padding, in between the wearer's shoulder blade and the pack's aluminum stays. OUCH !!!
