Price Paid:  $120.00 at rei scratch and dent

Summary:
Good pack; have not had any problems except for wishing sleeping bag compartment was bigger. Fine for people who don't need frills.

Price Paid:  $200.00 at North Face

Summary:
When I got this pack at a discount, I thought I had gotten a great deal on a great pack. WRONG. This pack has a poor hipbelt design and fit horribly. I have taken it to the top of Rainier a few times and Pico de Orizaba in Mexico. On my first long trip (Prussik Peak, Alpine lakes wilderness), I noticed that it would slide down my hips, no matter how tight I cinched it. Top load shifted all over the place. It's also an extremely heavy pack -- not to be used for "fast and light" alpine ascents. On the plus side, it seems to be very well constructed.

Customer Service:
I was extremely disappointed with North Face service. I had heard so much about TNF's customer service. Not so in my case. Initially, they worked hard to try to refit it and make adjustments, switching out the hipbelt on one occasion. Then, after wearing for over a year, and bringing it back the TNF for the 3rd time, they said "oh, you probably should have gotten a Medium (it was a Large)." They also refused to take it back.

Price Paid:  $249.00 at REI

Summary:
I have had this pack for five years now and drug it up Mt. Rainier, El Pico De Orizaba, and across the High Sierra Trail. I have been mostly satisfied with this pack. I am 6'2" and weigh 185 lbs. This pack fits my 19.5" torso very well. It could use a better Lumbar pad and a more contoured hip belt, but that is it. It is a well designed packbag and i have no felt need to replace it. If it fits, buy it.

Price Paid:  $201.00 at Tent City

Summary:
I don't find it the most comfortable pack and the hip belt will not hold the weight no matter how much the hip belt is tightened. Squeeze you guts out before it will stop moving down the buttocks. Eventually the shoulder straps become the main support of the packs weight. The sleeping bag zipper on the bottom is not big enough to easily remove a regular sized sleeping bag and during cold weather it is a big problem. For the money spent I could have done better getting a clearance high quality pack for the same price. Chaulk one up to lack of knowledge on backpacks.

Price Paid:  $125.00 at rei damaged goods sale

Summary:
Main hip buckel sucks, when tightened well it slips unlocked.
stitching is comeing apart in crucial places.
Not a very comfertable fit.

Customer Service:
It was cheap so I thought Id try it.
Not the best pack but with a new hip buckel it will do the job.
