Such a great value. However after a few hours it gets uncomfortable. But as far as I'm concern I would choose the exact same model if I had to bought an other bag.

I've owned the Rainier for many years now. My model didn't include the extra pack on the main compartment, or the small pocket opposite the water bottle pocket. But it's a very durable, very solid performer. I've banged it around up and down the Pacific Crest Trail, up Mt. Whitney, and many fishing trips into the backcountry of the high Sierra. My only gripe is that it could stand to hold more (a week-long trip is really pushing it with this pack), and the straight shoulder straps get uncomfortable on really long hauls. I retrofitted mine with a countoured shoulder strap. Otherwise, a great buy for the weekenders, and very reliable. Good, solid construction.

Customer Service

I returned a Jansport day pack because the stitching was giving out on the main compartment zipper, and they sent me a new one free of charge, and very quickly. Great customer service.

I have a Jansport frame pack... note that its not the Rainier but its looks darn close. Its been on numerous hikes... probably seen 40 days of use in hail blah blah I've got my stories but this isn't the place. Anyway its held up really well. The only thing I would suggest would be longer straps on the top to hold the sleeping bag. Also this model didn't come with straps on the bottom (duh!) so you can't have the sleeping bag low so it doesn't effect your center of gravity too bad unless you bring your own straps or some bungee cords. Oh yeah once there was a bolt sticking into my back but I fixed it pretty easily.

Customer Service

Jansport has really good customer service. I had a daypack that the zipper broke on and they sent me a new bag free. Plus they sent a little card that said ""We are sorry about your old bag... but we could not fix it... so we got you a new one... we hope you like it...""

Good pack for the money. Excellent for weekend trips with the scouts. Comfortable, but only for a few miles. After that the hip belt starts diggin in as do the shoulder straps. Wouldn't recommend it for anything far or heavy.

Well designed pack. Could provide more comfort for longer hikes. Good use of space, no problems yet except for the hole in the side pack where I had left the last brownie my wife had packed (rodent hole).

A good pack with plenty of space for a two nighter but I wouldn't recommend it for anything more than that. Only one complaint: when you are wandering down the trail the pack sometimes squeaks where the plastic end of the shoulder strap connects to the aluminum frame. It was very inexpensive also. Good pack.
