No backpacker should go without this little piece of perfection. I had to button down camp in the dark amidst a rain/thunder storm. The Black Diamond stuck to my head while working and provided an amazing amount of light. No complaints.

Wonderful headlamp, I have a petzl duo imitation that works just as well as the original and I must say the moonlight is a dream, you can run with it on and not feel it''''''''''''''''s there while the duo will bounce around even walking. The over the head strap ensures it won''''''''''''''''t fall in your face as the tikka might with all that bouncing It''''''''''''''''s light-weight but it''''''''''''''''s light is even better, it has a range far beyond what should be expected of the LEDs and the white light makes it easier to see at night. Also the light is uniform. perfect for hiking at night, chores around camp and reading in the sack. I got it slightly cheaper than the tikka and I find it''''''''''''''''s more functional with the extra LED and the swiveling mounting for the LEDs so I''''''''''''''''d take it over the tikka any day. also it''''''''''''''''s more balanced with the batteries at the back of the head, although this feature may make a bit more uncomfortable to lay back on if you don''''''''''''''''t have a pillow. can''''''''''''''''t live without this little light! even useful around home in blackouts or the like.

Great Product! I use it more around the house than I do in the woods. Pros: Very bright and easy to adjust. The weight is light and balanced. I like the fact that the batteries are in the back...when I move my head up or down the lamp doesn''t feel like it will fall off my head. Cons: None that I can find.

Definately lightweight and compact. I give the light intensity an 8 to 9 rating out of 10. LED''''s lend a feeling of security knowing they do not burn out. 70 hour battery life is nice knowing you do not have to turn your light on and off as much, although I have only used mine about 10 hours so far. Can be worn under a baseball cap or wool cap. Can be used as a handheld if wanted or a GP tent light, my tent has small loop on ceiling. Negatives: Dark color makes hard to find if misplaced. Light leaks into eyes a bit (from somewhere not sure how, which can affect nightvision a bit). A light on your head can attract bugs(like moths). When grabbing the light in the dark, the battery end is easy to confuse at first with the lamp end(similar basic size). Recommended.

Great Headlamp! I Love it! Its light weight, bright, durable, and water resistant. I have use other headlamps prior to this one, never again. LED is the best! I got the moonlight as a gift, but was just about to buy it, the price is just right in my eyes. I would recommend this to anyone.

Awesome! Handy! Convenient! Great little lamp to keep your hands free to do the important stuff. Like... putting up a tent at night in the rain... starting a fire at night in the rain... walking to the bathroom at night in the rain... you get my point. Never knew how handy headlamps were until I got one. The four led bulbs are adequate for most things. I wouldn''t venture into the wilderness with only this light though. the Limited range is my only complaint. But for led headlamps this rocks! The adjustable elastic headband works like a charm and fits comfortably. wouldn''t go camping with out it. At $35 I have to give it a 4 out of 5 for value though.

The Tikka is not as durable or as water resistant as the Moonlight.

This light is pretty sweet. I had a Princeton Tec Solo for a few years (still have it, but its the backup light now), and it was nice, but batteries didnt last too long. I got the BD Moonlight for Christmas, and have used it a bunch since. On a backcountry skiing trip, I made the mistake of following my buddies out for a "quick" run to check out Telemark Hill. I was feeling a lot like the Professor on Gilligans Island a bit later. 2.5 hours of night hiking w/ the Moonlight sold me on it. Breaking trail, trying to find trails, reading maps (I needed to get a little more involved with the route-finding, my buddy wasn''t doing so hot) and this thing put out more light than I had even hoped. Another guy had the Princeton Tec Matrix, and the Moonlight blew it away. The Tikka (Petzl) seems to have the same amount of light output, but the pivot feature makes the Moonlight my choice for sure. Only drawback is you will blind your buddies with this thing for sure.

    Customer Service

Havent had to use BD''s customer service yet, I''ve got some climbing gear and a shovel from them and its all been super bomber.

I have both the Tikka and this one and I like them both. I prefer the Tikka for reading at night with as it is light as a feather to wear and I''ve fallen asleep with it on but the Black Diamond is brighter for night hiking and can be angled due to its swiveling ability. I find the Tikka (mine anyway)has a tendency to flicker at times but you can''t go wrong with either light.
