this pack is way too small for my trail hiking, but it is excellent for travelling since you can lay it down and treat it like a suitcase because of the zipper that extends around the whole pack. i let friends of mine that are new to the sport borrow it so i dont scare them off with a beastly load. it could use a little padding or thicker walls, too

Customer Service

This is the perfect medium sized pack. The alu frame makes it great for school and hiking. I can go for 6 days if I pack right. The hip belt is great, and the craftsmanship is excellent. If you want a medium sized pack, get this. If you want a big pack get the 5500 cu i Kelty Slickrock

I bought this bag 1 year ago, and have used it about 2 dozen times. It's a fair bag at best. I bought it because it was on sale an quickly found out why. It is far too small for overnight hikes, and it rides too low to be comfortable. I now use it mostly for travel because the zipper opens all the way around, allowing easy access to anything. There are better backpacks out there for just a little bit more money. If you get serious about hiking, you'll regret the money and time you spent on this backpack.

Customer Service

Kelty makes good stuff, just not my style.

....I have used this as a "day pack" in New England for the past six years in Fall, Winter and Spring. I have found it to be extremely versitile in those seasons. Plenty of room for all that you want to bring on those day hikes. Lashing points are also a plenty for gear such as snow shoes and cramp-ons. I use the "ski slots" to store my trekking poles (colapsed of course) when I'm not using them. I've beat the crap out of this thing and have only had one problem that was fixed pronto by Kelty. Excellent day pack for me.

Customer Service

...As mentioned above. After countless hikes I notices one of the shoulder straps stiching coming lose. I called Kelty that said ship it we will repair it free of charge. They even re-stitched parts that I had not mentioned!

This is a really great pack. I like the frame, it never feels weird on my back, even if it's stuffed full of clothes or whatever. The waist belt is padded well and really helps take the load off of the shoulders. It's centered more around the hips than the waist which i like. Definitely a good buy for a medium sized back pack. I wear mine to school and on my bike and hiking. very nice

Great medium sized backpack, i bout it not think very highly of kelty and after i got it i loved it! in fact it was all i took with me when i went to europe for 10 days, big enough to fit all your gear into, yet small enough to be crammed innto the subway and not knock evey over when you turn arround. very durable fabric, and string stiching. makes cramming eveything you possible can into it a breeze! i reccommend it for anyone who is looking for a meduim sized backpack!

I purchased this pack thinking it was going to be a great little pack for a light overnighter....boy was I wrong. The pack was all over my back. It may be a good pack for someone used to carrying a duffle, but after 2 miles into the trail it had me wishing I had stayed home. I think I will stick to my Mountainsmith Day hiker for day hikes, and my Gregory Reality for overnights........

I am still looking for the ""perfect"" light overnight pack. Perhaps a Mountainsmith Bugaboo will do the trick....

I have the tall version, my girlfriend has the regular version. This is a good pack, with just enough room for a couple of days on the trail. Several places to attach stuff to the exterior. Excellent craftsmanship.

I have the Large version of this pack ( it's got a slightly longer inner pocket ). I use it all the time. It's a little big for the day hikes, but I'd rather have more room then not enough, plus the load straps are easy to hold things down. Plus it's just the right size for United Airlines carry-ons.
