Weakness:
None My requirements are a little different from the average hiker/camper, since I do a lot of extended travel overseas as well as some treking and hiking when I get there. My pack lives with me for 8 months at a time. While I''ve grown to hate most other packs I''ve used, I''ve fallen in love with my Silhouette. It compresses nicely when I don''t need all that room and expands to fit all the stuff I end up buying along the way. The fit Is the best I''ve ever experienced and the Salespeople at the store made sure the pack fit like a glove (medium frame, medium hipbelt, large shoulder straps). I ordered an Isis online for my girlfriend and the guys at Hilton''s offered to swap out the suspension and fit it for her, even if we didn''t buy it there. Customer Service Haven''t had to use Osprey custmer service, but the Customer service at Hilton''s in Boston was excellent. Pros: roomy, very comfortable, stabilizes the load pretty well. Cons: shoulder straps too narrow, maybe a tad too many bells and whistles. They should get rid of some of the excess fabric to save some weight. Good all-around pack for general mountaineering, backpacking. Similar Products Used: Lowe backpacks Northface backpacks |

Really like this pack. Took a little time to get it tweaked but worked well after I got it dialed in. Holds tons and shifts weight well. Customer Service No experience w/cust. service. Similar Products Used: Owned a Mountainsmith pack for years prior to this one. Osprey much more techie. |

I bought this pack about a year before I went on an extended backpacking trip in New Mexico. After a year of training and ""shakedown"" trips in preparation for and then the actual trip in NM I had gotten to know the pack pretty well. I also used it on a remote fly-in trip in the rainforests of Honduras. On all these trips I was impressed by its comfort, strength, and all around performance. This is a great feeling and durable pack that can handle anything. And the removable fanny pack is a big bonus for those shorter hikes. Customer Service I never needed to talk to customer service. :) Similar Products Used: None |

My only beef with the pack is the sleeping bag stuffer. It's ineffective and gets in the way. Other than that, I love the pack. It's balances and moves with you very smoothly, and has put up with some abuse with flying colors. Customer Service I've had no need for customer service Similar Products Used: Dana Astraplane, Terraplane |

I've owned my Silhouette for 11 years! With good care it has been on numerous trips to a variety of climes, to include the Smokies, Yosemite, Wind Rivers -- Gannett and Mt. Woodrow Wilson, and lately almost weekly trips to Big Sur. In short is has been a very durable pack, offering great stability with loads up to 75 Ibs. Unlike any other pack I've tried, it molds to my back. Further, it's quiet -- an important feature on long days. When mine finally does wear out, I will purchase another one. Customer Service Never needed to call. Similar Products Used: Sears Hillary II in 1973! , Wilderness Experience 1976-1988, Mountain Tools, Lowe, and the lovely ALICE pack. |

This is a very well made pack and allows for a great deal of personnel adjustment. Have used it on numerous climbing and backpacking trips in the Cascades and Olympics over the past two years without any problems. Pack does well with heavy loads (~60-70 pounds) and makes long days less arduous because of its stability. Biggest complaint is the built-in sleeping bag stuff sack. It makes packing your bag more difficult then it should be. I know two other individuals that have Osprey packs. Neither of them have had any problems with these packs. Similar Products Used: None |

The Osprey Silhouette is a very stable pack. I have experianced a fit that is so close and snug that it allows you to move in uneven terrain without difficulty. The pack is also quite comfortable with moderate to heavy loads. It is also very adjustable and allows shoulder straps and hipbelt to be changed amoung various sizes for a perfect fit. Workmanship and durability are top notch, Amoung the best I've seen and I have used many quality packs. The internal volume is large enough for up to a weeks worth of gear. But there are no outside pockets for organizing gear except for a roomy top lid pocket that doubles for a fanny/day pack with a built wide hipbelt. Overall I am extremly pleased with the fit ,performance, and durability. Customer Service I've contacted thier customer service dept. with question about fitting and found them eager to help. I tried on many packs before I bought the Silhouette, including a Dana Designs pack. This pack fits me perfectly. It carries well, without being unwieldy. My only complaint would be that I wish I had a newer version with the Vector system. Similar Products Used: None |

I got this pack for its capacity and its comfort (way better for me than Dana and Gregory and Arcteryx and NF). It was especially cool to be able to swap in + out different belts. But it has too many bells and whistles. They should simplify and lighten this thing. Similar Products Used: None |
