Worth every penny. I have had these boots for over a year now and have used them on a variety of trips. Me and my friend who also owns these shoes both loved their ability to endure heavy loads and the extreme durability despite the lack of a rubber toe guard. Very highly recommended.

just a word of warning: don't use these boots on really rough stuff, or with heavy loads. i basically destroyed a pair on a single hike up a canyon in the sierra -- blew two seams, delaminated a sole, and broke down the ankle support. my fault, i should have gone with a sturdier boot; but don't make the same mistake of pushing the limits of the 535's for the sake of the 50 extra bucks it'd cost to get a pair of real workhorses.

other than that, i totally agree with the positive reviews here: comfy, waterproof, good on trails, not the best for slippery stuff.

These are great boots! I first bought a pair of 520s several years ago and now I'm wearing my second pair of 535s. I still have all three pairs. I wear mine all the time under a variety of conditions and although they have gotten old they never seem to wear out. I now use my old pair on whitewater river trips and find them great for ankle protection while lining tough rapids or portaging around falls. This is definately a comfortable, work horse of a boot!

Customer Service

A few years ago my dog chewed through one of my boot laces on a new pair of Asolos. I called Asolo customer service and they sent me a new set of laces right away, no questions asked, and didn't charge me for the laces.

I've found no need to try other boots since I started wearing Asolos in 1993.

The 535 seems to me to be a very good boot once it's fitted properly. I have wider than average forefeet and finding boots is often a pain. Wearing them can be even more so, and the 535s were no exception, but now that they've been stretched they feel like they were custom made for me. The price was the main selling point here: $75, on sale for half price a couple of years ago. Since then I have put several hundred miles on them on terrain varying from trails with and without packs to rock scrambling to one very wet cave (I learned from THAT particular mistake!) and the darned things just refuse to fall apart. I expect I will get several more years of good use out of them and perhaps need to have them resoled once before I'll need a new pair.

Good solid boots with little break in time. Once treated with Nikwax (Aqueous for Nubuk) they are totally waterproof. Supportive enough for ten day backpacking trips, but still light enough for daily wear. Mine lasted over two years before I grew out of them. The sole provides plenty of traction, and the midsole is supportive enough to prevent rocks from bruising feet. Overall, a great and versatile boot.

I own the 530's and they are the best light hiking boot I have ever used. The traction is secure on multiple surfaces. The boots are highly waterproof after treating the leather. The 530's have lasted 4 years of 4-7 day off-trail trips without giving me a single blister or twisted ankle. No other brand compares to Asolo.

Simply Horrible. I used these on one scramble. by the end of the day they were ripped and the rubber was almost half gone. and when it comes to comfort.....OUCH! might be ok for day hiking on easy terrain, but this isent the preformece i'd expect from Asolo.

these boots are pretty good, i live in the san gabriel mountains in california, and have done a lot of hiking. they hold up pretty well. ive been using the same pair for about 2 years. my only complaint is that the sole is a little too soft for sharp rocks or agressive hiking.

This is my first pair of all leather boots and I was nervous about the break in. After more than a year I have never had problem. Put in lots of miles on trail, rock, and through streams and haven't had a worry. I was looking for Vasque but found these on sale. When I need another pair, prolly not for a while, I'll stick with these.
