My Merrell Nova broke-the sole air-cushion leaked, so i had to trade it back, but the shop did not have any, so i had to choose another brand, there was Boreal. Since that I have been blessing that day: it's still a wonder. I used it for trekking and backpacking, sometime with some rock climbing, in abnormal rain in the city, it saved my feet in festivals and concerts, even when i had to use something with a friend's company and i was gazing in snow and dust in -15 for weeks, often for 10-20 hours/day. It's alive and kicking, still comfortable, still waterproof, no damage, only the sole shows the signs of usage. Although I informed the issue to boreal customer support, there was no response on it.

OK, so the other reviews are accurate--these are great boots. However, a word of caution: make sure you're fitted correctly! Mine have fantastic support, waterproofing, etc. I know boots fairly well and they are well-constructed too. But, I just finished a 16 mile day hike up Mt. San Jacinto near Idyllwild, CA and my feet are hamburger. These were not the right boots for my foot, especially not on a hot trail (80 degrees plus). I have a lower volume foot and this caused far too much movement in the boot. Additionally, because they're such great waterproof boots, they don't breathe terribly well--a bad combination for me. To be fair, I would absolutely consider these boots--just don't make the mistake of buying based on what other people recommend. Make sure it fits your foot!
