The fit is great! Very comfortable out of the box. The locking lace eyelets lock foot into place for a very secure fit. The sole are like spidey's fingures on rocks, lots of grip. The leather is a waterproof leather but will leak after boot is saturated for long periods of time. Use nixwax waterproofing to help with this. There is no membrane such as gortex.
