I bougth almost 2 years ago a model with a kind of dark red skin... I like the way salomon protects the foot. I felt very very good. The product started to desintegrated after nine month of use. I talked with the guys from the shop I bought and they told me we know this product has problems but we can't help you... I tried to find salomon on the web to talk with customer support, no chance. It seems to be a ghost company. Now I need to buy a new pair and I'll probably choose other brand. If you are lucky salomon is a good choice otherwise buy anything else.

A very unpleasant experience. I bought the shoes based on the reputation of the company and was bitterly disappointed. Maybe this applies only to Australia and not internationally, but here's what happened in a nutshell. The shoes were very comfortably, reasonably supportive (for a light hiking shoe) and I liked the look of them but they started to fall apart almost immediately. Lace hooks broke, rand peeled off and insoles delaminated. But it was the complete lack of customer service that was the worst. The Aussie distributor didn't want to know about it, other than to offer to sell me a replacement insole at greater than resale price. Even when I tracked down email addresses for Salomon Europe, I just got palmed off back to the Australian distributor (Bursill Sportsgear). Many phone calls, emails & postal (at my expense) later and I still had a busted pair of shoes and a bitter taste in my mouth. I WILL NEVER BUY SALOMON AGAIN and I will avoid anything that may require me to deal with Bursill Sportsgear like the plague. I am, however, very, very happy with my SCARPA Lunanas that I bought as a replacement. What I really don't understand is that for about A$20, they could have kept a happy customer loyal for life, but now SCARPA has my business instead. I also now tell anyone who will listen about my bad experiences, so they lose even more business. Bad call guys.

Customer Service

Absolutely appalling. I've never seen worse!!!!!!!!

I''ve had these shoes for over a year now and find them excellent, although they did take some breaking in! especially the rand which was very hard on the toes! they''re ideal for day work around the campsite, long weekends through the mud and on scree slopes with a light pac, I would''nt want to do anything fast in them but that''s not what their for, I''d recomend them and I''ll by them again

great shoe. though i found them a bit heavy actually. wear well, though the leather ended up ripping where the rubber meets on the top of the toe. owned for 3 years (2 of which i have taken on ultralight packing trips). great grip, great feel, totally worth the money.

Previously I've owned Fabiano, Vasque and Hi-Tec boots and have been very satisfied. Based on my wife's recommendation and positive feedback at OutdoorReview.com, I purchased a pair of Salomon Exit Lows in Tahoe City on March 10. It has been a painful experience I simply cannot bear anymore.

After four months they still aren't broken in. On four hikes -- and much moleskin -- I got blisters on the back of my heels each time. In between I've healed and worn them around the house and on errands to break them in. I still can't wear shoes two days after my last trip. The boots looked and felt fine in the store. Salomon's reputation made me choose them over a similar pair of Lowas. I now regret that decision.

The specific problem seems to be with the Achilles lip on the back of the heel; with boot movement, my heel rubs up and down against that lip -- rubbing skin until they're open blisters and pulling moleskin down from wounds. (Note I tried it with light socks for a loose fit as well as heavy socks for a snug fit, single and double socks; I got the same result.)

Bottom line: I cannot wear these boots again. They are broken in sufficiently. It seems to be a design flaw. It was especially embarrassing since my 14-year-old daughter, wearing a cheap pair of Riddell cross-trainers, had to help me down the trail. She didn't have any problems with her shoes.

Customer Service

I've heard Salomon's service is excellent. Problem is, you can't find a way to contact them. Their website is so full of gimmicks you can't navigate it. There is no place to contact customer service anywhere. I'll go back to the retail outlet, though I'd like to deal with Salomon directly. Maybe I need mids instead of lows...

Used mainly for biking, and some day hiking. Great traction on and off the bike, very comfortable too. Not the best for really wet situations, however they work great for everything else. I'd buy them again.

I bought these boots about a month ago for a trip i was doing down the bruce trail. I gave them 1 hell of a work while there. They gripped most terrain excelently, they are one of the most confortable pairs of hikers that i havd ever put on. I would recommend them to anyone.

I bought these shoes 6months ago. They have great traction and are very comfortable for day hikes. The upper breathes well for summer. Don't wear in wet conditions. I'd buy them again.

These shoes are awesome! They are very comfortable to have for a long day in the wilderness and they provide ample traction on all but the slickest of surfaces.

Customer Service

About 1 month after I bought these the left shoe lace started to wear through. I called Salomon and explained the situation and in about 6 days I received a new pair of laces.

I actually have the "mid" version which retailed for 99.00. I "stold" them for 70% off for a new pair. May not have been willing to pay the full 99 but would have gladly paid 60-70 for them. Light and supportive, "Clima-Dry" fabric helps both ways to keep moisture from building up on the inside and getting in from the outside.

Hate to add this sexist comment but as a man I must admit that I own more shoes/boots than almost every woman I know.
