My first impression was 'earth shoes', remember back in the 70's? The more I wear them the better they seem, however after about 35 hours just at the office, the lining in the heel is coming loose. I will be contacting their customer service...

While the boots could use with a little more cushioning, I am quite happy with them. They offer what I think is a very stiff sole which works well on uneven rocky trails. The traction these boots give has never let me down. As others have mentioned in their reviews, the boots tend to tighten up over time. I found that tying them a little looser than normal when first lacing them up solves this problem.

Overall a very good boot. This is the first pair I have by Salomon and the quality seems to be better than average. The only problem that I have experienced has been that after 4 to 6 hours they seem to tighten up and I find myself lossening the ties.

I found these boots to very comfortable, virtually no breaking-in period! The are light weight ... much lighter than they even look. These boots have easy entry and exit. They are quite handy when slipping them on and off to get into the tent or just a quick walk around. They give a nice bit of support for on and off trail use. We have plenty of rtugged woods in our area and I have found them to be just right for a hike with the kids! They have been used for one summer and show little wear and tear.

I was able to use these for half the summer so it did not take long before they had a hushpuppy like feel to them. My dogs have little to no arch, so I am very picky about the shoes I wear; also several friends had suggested these and for that I am very appreciative. For the price, a great weekend boot.

Good boot. This is my first pair of Salomon's and I love them. They work well if you have a narrow foot. Very comfortable yet supportive.

Great boots. Almost no time needed for break in. I have used these on varying degrees of terrain and they haven't failed me. They have a slight curve to the sole which make them almost do the walking for you. My only complaint is that they are more comfortable when I'm moving then when I'm not. (ie, standing, sitting.)I'm not sure if it's the boots or my crazy feet.

Good comfortable solid boots. They are very waterproof when treated a few times, and on a regular basis. I wore them up north during a warm spell. My feet stayed dry and warm in the slushy snow... definately a bonus. Found them comfortable and easy to break in.

I found these boots to fit rather snug.......not good if you have a high volume foot. I returned them after about 40 kms with no problem, and was told that the store had recieved similar reports from bigfoot people like me. Overall quality seemed ok, but the sole wasn't quite rigid enough to support heavy loads over long distances. I imagine that the X-mountain would be more suited to dayhiking, where stiff soles and strong ankle support aren't an issue. They sure do look good, though. And not overly expensive for what you get.
