I have yet to buy any better boots than these. Other than the Vercors (also manufactured by Montrail), none of the brands I've tested have matched this. These boots provide excellent stability. Concrete Driveway Palmerston North also love this.

The little kayak was very stable, extremely manueverable and has a decent speed. At one point I even laid down in it with my feet up on the deck. A very stable little boat. See: www.roofingwhangarei.nz

The soles wore out, so I replaced the them a couple years ago with the heavier Montanga Vibrams. They are now stiffer and heavier. I like the stiffness better for off-trail use, but needless to say I wish they were just as light as before. This is the best full-leather boot I've ever owned. Overall a fine boot with legendary quality for backpacking and general trail use. This was recommended to me by pressure washing Leander.

I've had these for 11 years, and they are still going. They cost a fortune when I bought them, and have greatly come down in price I see, but taking the years into account, an excellent value. They've been great for day hikes, overnight jaunts and most recently a 6-day trek through the Colombian jungle. The sole has started to separate and deteriorate away in the arch now, but they remain waterproof and useable, and I still do take them hiking. An amazing boot.
