These are the best boots in the world!! I have worn them for 4.5 years. No break in was required! I have never gotten a blister while wearing these boots. It is a roomy boot so if you have small volume feet you will need a good insole. I have worn these boots in the Grand Canyon to knee deep snow in Minnesota. I have not taken care of these boots for 4.5 years. They are still mosty waterproof. Better still, the gortex line helps your feet breath and if your feet get wet, they will still stay warm. They can also be resoled. I love these boots!! When i get a new pair they will be new Clarion GTX. Thanks Vasque!

I love these boots. I am a part-time backpacker, full-time builder. I have worn these boot for both work and play for the past two years. This summer they have finally died. Well not totally, I plan on still wearing them for the grungy stuff and keeping the new ones semi-clean. They have lasted longer than any boot I have ever bought. Keeping my feet dry, supported, and comfortable 6 days a week. I have done none of the recommended conditioning and care to them and they still lasted this long. I am now looking into buying another pair identical to them.

These have been a great pair of medium duty boots. I got the Gore-Tex version with they nylon sides instead of full-leather. Like I said, for a medium duty boot, these are perfect-I have had them since August 2000. I haven't ever gotten my feet wet until recently where I spent a full day hiking in 5-6 inches of snow and then it was only the tips of my toes that got damp. Also worth mention, I do not treat my leather; that said-these boots really do excel in backpacking conditions within moderate limits. I am in the market for new boots however, needing a heavier-duty boot. Don't buy these boots if extreme, extended wet weather hiking or backpacking with heavy (over 50lb) loads and exposed rock travel is expected.

I have to admit that I purchased these boots mostly because I got a great deal on them - and because of their outstanding initial comfort. While these boots feel soft, they have stood up to a great deal of abuse. At about three pounds for the pair, these boots are a solid choice for backpacking with loads in the 40-50 pound range under most trail conditions. While the uppers have proven very durable, the flexibility of the insole limits the boot's effectiveness in situations requiring a stiff, highly protective boot. The level of ankle support can be fine-tuned with the excellent standard lacing system. Once again, however, the level of support is not up to off-trail conditions for the average hiker.

Awesome, could've gotten a better deal through REI, but I'm impulsive. Best feeling things I have to wear in the closet bar none, really none. And after 3 days in the rain in the Smokies, my tootsies were the only dry things I had. Thank your MR GORETEX.

Day Hiker

These boots are very comfortable now that I have broken them in. They are as stiff as I want to cinch the laces. I have hiked through several streams and the water stayed out. My girlfriend and I go on relatively long day hikes and need strong support for our feet. These boots do it without being bulky. However, like other reviewers mentioned, they have a problem on wet rocks. They could also use more heel padding, but I put some Dr. Schols pads in and they feel much better. They are now my primary and best hiking boots. And at this price, they were too good to pass up.

On the plus side these boots seem to be quite durable and a definite improvement over my last pair in terms of comfort. They are sturdy and offer good support. On a rather significant down note, they have very poor traction on wet rock, particularly the kind of smooth-faced, lichen covered rock that is typical in the Canadian Shield where I do most of my hiking. They're okay on dry rock and perhaps even in other kinds of wet rock environments (like the rougher surfaced trails in the Rockies), but I would have to strongly recommend against them if you backpack in eastern Canada. I came close to slipping and breaking my neck on several occasions - the hazard posed by these boots far outweighs any benefits in this environment.

Customer Service

Was not too pleased with the response received by the Vasques customer service when I advised them of what I thought was a significant danger. I was hoping that they would take my concerns seriously as I honestly believe people could risk their safety by wearing these boots on at least some types of wet rock. We're not talking about having to exercise a little extra caution - there is a very substantial loss of traction compared to any other kind of footwear I've used and it is quite dangerous if you don't expect it. They took a very casual and disinterested attitude and suggested I make a warranty claim at my place of purchase if I thought I had a valid case.

I have the all leather version.I have
had them for almost 2 years.I am very
sattisfied with them.I have had no
problems with them so far.I do a lot of
day hikes between 5 and 12 miles.Also
some packing on the A.T.with 45 pound
loads so far so good.About treating
the boots I have tried different
methods but the 1 I have found the best
is the Vasque nature seal or the classic
auqa seal[same product]At this time I
have appx.450 miles on them and I would say they are far the best boot I have owned.

OVERALL THIS BOOT WAS OK I'LL BRAKE IT DOWN INTO THE SEPERATE AREAS

WATERPROOF-Yes, completly I had no problems at all. I walked through so much water and as long as the water didn't get over my boot my feet were dry.

COMFORT-It was pretty good. My feet didn't get messed up and pretty much on the trail they were fine. It wasn't excellent but they were above average.

SUPPORT- This is were the boot lacks. The guy who worked at rei sayed even though there really light boots then can handle heavy backpacking and bumpy terrain. He was wrong. I had ankle twist after ankle twist. THESE BOOTS ARE FOR LIGHT HIKING LIKE VASQUE SAYS ONLY.

Break In- They broke in quickly because of the Vasque special sole it came with. Faster then most boots.

I bought these boots last year and I love them. The weekend of october the first I went backpacking with a couple of friends and it POURED! most of our gear got wet except for my feet. My friends were all complaining about cold wet tired feet and my feet felt fine. So are they water proof? Definately, and that's an understatment. Not to mention the great Skywalk soles, which have deep lugs with outstanding traction. I give these boots Eight thumbs up.

Customer Service

Bought them from REI, very fast delivery.
