MSR WhisperLite Internationale 600 Stove Stoves

MSR WhisperLite Internationale 600 Stove Stoves

DESCRIPTION

Whether it's white gas, kerosene, jet fuel or automobile gasoline, the Whisperlite Internationaleâ„¢ takes it all and burns it easily. The secret is in the large diameter fuel line that lets you burn poor-quality fuel with less maintenance or cleaning than other so-called multi-fuel stoves. Like the Whisperlite Shaker Jet Stove, the Whisperlite Internationaleâ„¢ features a Shaker Jet needle, which automatically pushes out any excess fuel debris with a simple flick of the wrist.

Great for international backcountry adventures, backpacking, mountaineering, kayaking and camping

Windscreen, heat reflector, fuel pump and reusable stuff sack included 14 oz. (400 g.)

An excellent stove if you seriously need to melt some snow. This is definitely the best stove I've ever owned and is a highly versatile one... it will burn almost any fuel you can get your hands on.

The sales guy at a local outdoors shop pushed this real hard and I ended up buying it for its ability to burn different types of fuel. I have mixed feelings about it though. When it works it works great. It cooks quickly and takes up a minimal amout of room. BUT when it decides all isn't going to go well it picks the most inconvienent times. There are countless times I've had it kick out on me midway through cooking a meal. Nothing could be more frustrating than your stove clogging while you happily fanticise about the food you plan to devour in a few short moments. So if you can live with that, it's a great stove and the price is right.

I bought this stove a couple years ago and have been impressed with its operation. The nicest part is that it's simple - I can take the entire stove apart, clean it, and reassemble it with a pair of pliers. I've only used white gas, which it burns beautifully, and have had no trouble starting it in any weather. The stove does simmer if used in a sheltered area where the low flame won't be blown out, but it's a bit hot for frying - the oil splatters out of the pan. I clean the stove after each trip and have had no problems, even in subzero temperatures and blowing rain. It is my first stove, and my only regrets are that due to the heat I can't cook oatmeal and pack up camp at the same time (I have to keep stirring or it sticks). But this is redeemed when I get hot soup fast. The stove is lightweight, quiet, fast, relatively inexpensive, and easy to use - a good choice for anyone.

Not a bad stove, but i have has some problems with mine. I enjoy how small and light the stove is and is great for the backpack. But I find that it is hard to simmer, and at times the flame is really uneven.

During the summer i work in for the Nat. Park Service as a Backcountry ranger, the stoves that we use are the whisperlight shaker jst stoves, I thought these to be a great over all stove but wanted something with more heat and more fuel choisec for my own personnal stove, the International 600 does both very well, it has a bigger bore tube which brings fuel to the burners in order to burn different fuels, this bigger bore also allows the stove to burn much hotter, which is great for melting snow for water. The only problem with the International is that it does not simmer, like all MSR's (excluding the Dragonfly), i solve this problem buy placing a flat rock between my pan/pot and the burner to dissapate the heat. Overall I am very happy with the stove and would recomend it to any one who needs a relieble stove that works at all elevations and burns almost any fuel, also its priced very reasonably.

Excellent stove. Used it many, many times with no problems. Easy to prime and light and burns well. Flame can be varied by adjusting fuel flow through fuel tank.Easy to claen and repair as well.Haven't used it in below zero weather yet but plan to this winter. I plan on doing some international travel in the future and this stove burns about any type of fuel. Only problem I've had is trying to make expresso on the burner as my expresso maker is smaller than the burner element and the burner element has a tube that sticks up a bit making it hard to sit items flat on the burner that are smaller than the burner head. All in all though a great stove!

I was looking for the Whisperlite Shaker but the only nearby store was out of stock, and only had the (more expensive...) Internationale in stock, time was important, so I went with it. As I understand it, the only difference between the two is that the Internationale has the Kerosene et al. jet included, while the normal Shaker doesn't. I hope to be able to use white gas for my trips, rather than cooking over kerosene or jet fuel, so it seems a bit silly.

Otherwise, the stove's been hot for probably 20 hours...no problems. Priming it takes some practice, but once you get it down, you can have blue flame in ~2 minutes after unpacking. I haven't had any pump problems, but have opted to clean and lubricate the rings and pump cup before having problems, rather than after.

This stove is a great piece of gear! I've used it for about five years and have never had a problem with it. I've burned everything it it, including auto fuel, not a problem here. Relatively small and lightweight. The only thing I don't like about it, is that it gets really dirty, as opposed to the XGK.

A great product! The boil times are quick, and I've had no problems using it in rain, snow, or shine! The stove is lightweight & fits nicely inside a cookset. I've never had a clog, and I've used it with both white gas and kerosene... I'd highly recommend it to anyone, especially for those travelling abroad where white gas is not available. Simmering? Its a talent to master, but the stove can do it. Overall I am very happy with my stove, and there isn't another on the market that I'd trade it in for!

Customer Service

I have never needed to contact customer service for this product. And maybe that says it all...

An excellent stove for winter camping especially. It packs compactly, is pretty light, and uses white gas. The heat output from it is amazing, like a blowtorch. Great for melting snow. Simmering on it is notoriously tricky but it can be done by using a light touch on the pump. My only gripe with it is that the pump is plastic and thus vulnerable to breakage and melting. Maybe they should make it out of aluminum? The construction of the stove itself is solid, I've never had a problem with it (or a clog).

Customer Service

Had a piece break off a pump once and MSR sent a new pump, no questions asked.
