MSR WhisperLite Internationale 600 Stove Stoves

MSR WhisperLite Internationale 600 Stove Stoves

DESCRIPTION

Whether it's white gas, kerosene, jet fuel or automobile gasoline, the Whisperlite Internationaleâ„¢ takes it all and burns it easily. The secret is in the large diameter fuel line that lets you burn poor-quality fuel with less maintenance or cleaning than other so-called multi-fuel stoves. Like the Whisperlite Shaker Jet Stove, the Whisperlite Internationaleâ„¢ features a Shaker Jet needle, which automatically pushes out any excess fuel debris with a simple flick of the wrist.

Great for international backcountry adventures, backpacking, mountaineering, kayaking and camping

Windscreen, heat reflector, fuel pump and reusable stuff sack included 14 oz. (400 g.)

Never failed me yet. I've used it in harsh winter and rainy conditions and it has always burned hot and strong. MSR base is a nice addition for stability in snow. It will simmer, despite what some say. You just have to simmer with low bottle pressure. I would buy another!

THIS IS MY FIRST AND ONLY STOVE, AND MAY BE MY LAST! IT'S LIGHT AND SMALL AND DURABLE ENOUGH AND WORKS IN COLD. THE WIND SCREEN IS KIND OF FLIMSY, BUT EASILY REPLACED SINCE IT'S NOT REALLY PART OF THE STOVE.

This is a nice light weight stove. It burns really hot, like a blow torch, but if its simmering that you want then get something else. On the lost coast trail 2 of us each had this type of stove and couldn't get either to light in extremly foggy conditions. Otherwise this is a very dependable unit.

Like most of my other purchases, my decision to buy this stove was based heavily on price - it was on sale. I knew that MSR was a well respected name so I went with it. It is really easy to use and boils water quickly, which is all I have used it for thus far. I understand the technique for simmering but for the beginner this is not an easy thing to do. My only complaint is that my hands get filthy whenever I handle the stove because of all the black grime but I imagine that this is the case with every stove. I don't have experience with other stoves to compare this one with, but is seems to me to be a worthy piece of equipment.

This is the second-most perfect piece of gear I own. (My first is my Western Mountaineering sleeping bag.) The only way in which this stove does not beat all the others is in that it doesn't simmer. The backcountry gourmet will probably want to consider a Dragonfly, instead. For those of us who cook for mere sustenance, the Whisperlite can't be beaten.
The Whisperlite is light, compact, and it burns efficiently and hot. It's easy to start (once you know the routine). The shaker jet keeps the jet clean, even when you're using automobile gasoline. The modular design makes it easier to pack than one-piece stoves, which is a god-send for compression freaks like myself.
The only complaint that I have is that the valve on my second Whisperlite sticks a little bit, whereas the valve on my first Whisperlite was silky-smooth.

Extremely dependable stove no matter what the conditions (cold, fuel, wind). Sure you have to prime it, but how great does that 6 inch flame feel when your gloveless hands are frozen in -20 weather! It's a bit tippy, but the footprint is so small you can ALWAYS find a flat spot to put it on. Simmering is possible if you get the hang of it, but chances are, if you're going lite enough to know you should carry a Whisperlite, you're only boiling water anyway. Completely field serviceable. I know from experience. I couldn't hold pressure in the bottle and found that the the leather seal in the pump was dry. Laid a gnarly, green goober on it (didn't have MSR oil on hand) and it has worked great ever since. If you want a friend in the backcountry, get a Whisperlite!!!!

Customer Service

Very good from what I hear

Fires up every time without fail. Burns blow torch hot and works in any condition you can put it in. Packs very compactly and burns most fuels you will come across. I dropped it a star due to the difficulty in simmering and because it can be a little unstable. I have not had any problems with the pump yet.

I bought this stove 15 years ago. MSR has rebuilt it three times for free. I used it last weekend on an "overnight in a snowcave" trip. It never missed a beat! You can't go wrong buying this stove. Note: Fewer pumps (5-10)work much better that many (pump till you arm hurts).

What a cool stove, even cooler if you are a pyro or like to watch fires. I had all sorts of fun watching this thing flame up when you start it, I thought there was something wrong at first, but I discovered that this is normal for the stove.
I have used it 6 or 7 times now, and it works great as long as you dont have to simmer anything.
I pretty much heat up water to make oatmeal and those god awful natural high meals.
I like it a lot.

Customer Service

Yeah, dont be stupid like me and try to pour out some white fuel on damp firewood to get a campfire going. I mangaged to singe my eyebrows and all the hair on my hand.
Learn from my stupidity...
