Overall--a great tent!! This tent has seen: 3inch ice storms, 3 people, zero degree weather, downpours, thunderstorms, extreme desert heat, two dogs and two people at the same time, and much more. This tent has held up beautifully through it all. Problems: Light-only if car-camping. Otherwise, not so much. Could use a little more headroom while sitting up, walls tend to sag. Water splashes from ground back into tent in strong rain, but what tent doesn't have that? Good things: Built strong. Lasts long time, sleeping room is great. Vestibule is great for gear and/or dogs, wet shoes, jackets, etc. Well ventilated. Easy set-up. Nice gear storage inside. One other thing, those of who that don't like the sun coming in the morning--guess what? You bought a tent called room with a view!!! What do you expect? =)

Great tent. love the design and the extra windows and pockets. It has worked well for me in all conditions. Plenty of room for two people and all their gear. Haven''t had a single problem with it.

Great ventilation. Nice to leave the fly off on a starry evening. Pretty light and easy to set up. Lots of little extra pockets for stashing odds and ends. Good in wind. But .... not very good in prolonged rain or snow. Even with seam sealing there tends to be leakage along the "windows" and through the actual floor and fly walls. Anything more than an hour of rain and you''ll likely get wet. If it''s raining and windy, rain can blow under the fly and through the mesh walls into the tent. All in all, a great fair-weather tent but not to be relied upon in severe conditions.

Appreciate the airy-ness and the "view" ... great in nice weather. But performs poorly in extended rainy weather. Leaks from floor and seams, and especially along edge of the "window", despite repeated waterproofings.

You should seam seal this tent, and do it right. If you do this you won't have any problems. The rainfly comes factory taped so no worries there. My first night using this tent we received 12 hours of rain, sleet, and light hail. This tent held up to every bit of it. Even though Mountain Hardwear claims this is a 3-season, I'm willing to bet you could use it for light 4-season (not extreme blizzards though). I did have condensation inside the tent but I could have guyed it out better too. Vestibule is roomy enough for 2 pairs of boots and plenty of gear. I don't know what else to say about this tent. When I wake up dry, I'm happy.

The tent is well made but poorly designed. First the Window in the fly lets too much heat in during the day and lets every one see in the tent during the night. Secondly the pole design makes the walls slope in at such an angle that the only way a person can sit up in the tent is if that person were in the center of the tent.

I did like the feature of being able to roll up the end of the tent on hot nights for more ventilation. In the end I sold it and plan to buy a Sierra Designs tent. MH tries hard to put new features in their tents but they should try using their tents themselves before selling them.

BTW I tried to tell the MH rep about the problems but he really didn't want to listen. I guess they see them selves as another North Face.

While trying to describe a Porsche, where does one begin? The same holds true for this tent. While in this thing at about 11,200 ft. in Colorados Chicago Basin, we were already enduring a 5 hour thunder/rain/snow storm when the acorn size hail and 25-30 mph winds started pummeling our tent. With the fly in place there was ample storage in the vestibule for both our packs that stayed mostly dry, great ventilation from between the fly and the tent even without allowing the splash back to get in, since the floor also turns up the side walls approx.4"-6".Love the indoor storage space at the head and in the attic area that holds a weeks worth of gear without hindering the sleeping area. The fly , while being totally saturated, lost very little shape, and we enjoyed the window that aligned perfectly with the tents window for an un-interrupted view.Great head room for sitting. The set-up and tear down time is very quick and as simple as it gets!

I purposely set this tent up before a snowtorm of 16" and 40 mph gusts. The tent survived well. Noisy but sturdy. Tons of room and storage. Very fast erection even with 4 poles.

What a cool tent. This thing is bomber for a 3 season tent. I have lived in this tent for a few months and love it. I have been poured on, snowed on and it held up. Perhaps the best test is when ir blew about 30 mph and rained for 8 hours.
The only real complaint is that it does not have a door except for a screen. But this is not a huge problem as i bought it for it's ventilation and view.
Even though it is a three season tent, a tie off miday up the fly on the middle of the tent would make this thing virtually silent in a windstorm.

Awesome Tent!! I thoroughly went through all the reviews on this tent before I bought it and boy was I not disappointed. I took this tent on its first outing to Desolation wilderness (up near Tahoe) in the end of August. August, you know, the summer, like when it is supposed to be around 80 degrees and sunny out, HA! The weather report badly decived us by claiming only short showers and partly cloudy for the rest of the trip. Well it rained one whole day and the tent stayed wonderfully dry. Then we packed up hoping to find better weather at a lower elevation, only to find much worse weather. Right after we found our campsite the drizzle turned into pouring rain. After only setting up the tent once before, 2 people set up the tent in about 5 minutes under the pressure of the pounding rain. The overhead attic was great to store some of our wet gear and the pocket above the door was useful too. There is plenty of space between the rainfly and the canopy so you don't need to worry too much about touching the sides of the tent. The next morning we woke up to find the ground coated with 3 inches of snow!!!! In August!! And to boot nothing was wet inside the tent, dry as could be. Let me remind you this is a 3 season tent, it is not meant to be able to handle snow. We stayed in the tent for the whole morning waiting for it to stop snowing and still no complaints about the tent. The other reviewers weren't kidding when they said this tent was bomb-proof. The only cons to this tent are the lack of a real door (not mesh) without the rainfly (although that wasn't a problem on our trip) and it weighs a bit on the heavy side. But weight is the tradeoff for a sturdy tent, and I'll take a pound more anyday in order to keep from being wet and miserable. Oh, the windows were very nice also to check and see the state of the storm outside.
