Great tent! Finally it came out in green! Lightweight, roomy and simple. I'm really glad I got the $35 footprint for it, cuz with it and the rainfly I can leave the 2lb tent body at home and go lightweight if the skeeters aren't bad, of course.

I like this tent because it is very light to carry. It is also very easy to assemble. Here in the Philippines, mountaineers are more on sensitive when it comes to the quality and durability of tent and also the performance at the peak of the mountain. I like the color combination.

First off, I don't own this particular model. However, I demo'd one 2 years ago. As someone who has been backpacking and mountaineering for many years using a plethora of tents, both borrowed and my own, if you are looking for a one-person, 3.5 season tent don't waste any more time looking and go buy the Clip Flashlight2! I don't own this tent since I have too many already, but if I was starting over from scratch, this would be the first one I'd purchase. Even though it's a 2-person tent, it would be VERY cozy. It's perfect for 1 person plus all the gear. I own 2 other Sierra Designs tents and am certain the quality is equal for the Clip2. This tent is as solid as a freestanding tent, and in some cases more solid depending on the model, when it is completely staked out. The hoop design will even shed snow fairly well. Buy one and never look back, you won't regret it.

I purchased a used Clip Flashlight 1 yr ago. So far have used on 4 backpacking trips, and 2 canoe trips.

I use this tent as a good "1-man plus Gear" tent. I am 6'1" and like to have elbow and shoulder room, which this tent has plenty of.

When in my sleeping bag, the foot of my bag just barely touches the rear of the tent's mesh, and the hair on my head is about 1-2" from the mesh on the door.

VERY EASY TO SETUP.

Again - Very light for the space it protects

Get the fitted groundcloth / groundsheet which clips right into the corners nicely and protects the floor from tears/punctures.

Plenty of room to sides of sleeping position for food, clothes, gear, flashlights, etc. Room for my boots (13-wide) under the Vestibule. Not enough room for my backpack unless I crammed it between the mesh door and the vestibule (Gregory Lassen Large).

The coldest environment I've used it in was about 26degF with high winds 35mph winds on ~6000ft Appalachian summit. The air moves quickly under the fly, through the tent, and back out the other end due to 360deg mesh. Definitely a 3-season tent. Had no problem with warmth thanks to good sleeping bag.

The hottest/muggiest was at riverside during canoing trip in July and was about 90degF and 100% humidity. Only a full-mesh tent (Walrus Micro-Swift) might have been slightly cooler. I could easily sprawl out on top of my sleeping pad (Camplite Long) without any worries of hitting the tent when turning side to side trying to get comfortable.

Waterproofness?? The only leak I had was from heavy dew saturating the 3-4" of tent floor (wasnt using tent fly) that lifts up from groundcloth and meets the tent door. Breath condensation probably accelerated this. I have seam sealed this area and havnt noticed it being a problem since. A few corners got damp during 3-hr rainstorm, but no main-floor wetness problems noted.

If you are backpacking, want a good spacious 1-man + gear tent that is quick to setup and take down, lightweight for it's space, 3-season camping (no heavy snow), then this may be the tent for you.

Highly recommended for the reasons above.

Customer Service

Have had no need to contact customer service - it's a wellmade tent.

I've been using the flashlight since 1987...at the time it was the lightest tent you could get...the newer version is actually heavier...it is has been a great one person tent...two people is pushing it but has been used with no problems...its good for people under 6 feet...this tent has seen it all...freezing rain, desert winds, week long downpours, extreme heat and cold, yet there is not one rip or tear or broken pole in all the years I've used it..the non freestanding is always mentioned but as long as you've staked or rock staked well...I've seen it hold up to winds that have bent tents over to the ground and created sparks from the poles...I highly recommend this tent for solo sleepers...my fellow campers have gone through 2 or 3 tents since I've had this one...I figure it has cost me about $14 a year for its use and Im still carrying the lightest tent through all those miles.

It is freakin' awesome. I love it. It's perfect for you and your girlfriend, or your pack, and even on some occasions your dog. I felt sorry for scout (my black lab) and let him sleep in the tent with me on a cold rainy night. He wasn't bad company either. I guess i'm a sucker for those puppy dog eyes. The tent is awesome. Love the space, love the weight, and the price wasn't too bad.

Outstanding tent. Kept me dry under driving rain and wind in Sierras, can be cool and open in desert. Plenty of room for 1 but would be cramped for 2. I am 6' and it is just big enough. Easy to set up but need good solid stakes to set up correctly. Like the view at night through top and around sides.

I love this tent! It is light, roomy and incredibly rain-protected. It is the perfect size for two backpackers who are willing to sacrifice a little space. Well thought out. Only downside: requires many stakes for setup, if you are planning on hard soil camping look elsewhere.

Light, light, light and easy to set up. Bombproof in storms. I was in this tent the one time a storm blew in and I wished I was back home. Picture this, its a 100 degree day in July and flashing heat lightning turns to a crashing storm around midnight. We were canoeing and considered taking refuge under the boats because of the wind's strength. The next day, trees along the river bank were freshly felled by the storm. In our tent, we were dry. The downfalls are we have an older model with poor ventilation and, of course, it doesn't stand with stakes.

this is a great tent. it's easy to set up and is strong in storms on the east coast and midwest. in hot east coast summers that are very humid, it can get hot , despite the full mesh around the base of the tent. for spring and summer, it's well ventilated, but for cold winters around 15 deg., it can be too drafty and cold.
