Have two stretch domes, each about 5-6yrs old. First and second flys (Expedition with full vestibule) seemed to succumb to UV particularly fast. New one is better. Door zipper failed after 3 months of continuous use; replacement by local canvas shop has survived nicely for the past few years. Door design has since changed. Better maybe?? Back window on mine should be bigger or be a door. Clip system has held up very well, as has all stitching. Good winter/mountain tent with expedition fly. Get a 2nd normal fly for other use, as improves ventilation/lessens condensation problems. For bad storms and wind, not as bombproof as an Expedition Tiros, but otherwise a good tent. One other thing:

Customer Service

SD replace a set of poles at cost when a few broke after tent blew away (my fault). Replacement was quick.

I have had this tent, amoung others, for 4 years now and have loved it. I primarily use it for winter trips and have found it to be comfortable, roomy, and easy to set up in foul weather. I have had the buckles for the fly freeze up and become difficult to snap but that could happen to any other manufacturer as well. Ventilation is pretty good as a result of the lack of pole sleeves. I have a N.F. VE25 that tends to ice up a bit more because of the pole sleeves. I have also owned the Tiros, Nightwatch, Clip Flashlight (used on a PCT thru-hike) and Expedition dome Sierra Designs tents and have never had a problem with any of them. I highly recommend any of their tent products.

I have had this tent for four years and I still love it. I have tried other tents from Eureka, Kelty, and North Face, and none of them compare in ventilation, set up ease, and looks. This tent is a breeze to set up, the instructions say that it can be set up in less than two minutes. My friend and I tried to see if that was true and I have to say it is 1min. 40 sec. is all it took before we were playing cards inside. Nice product and definately worth every penny.

This is enough good tent. But in specifications tent is lighter than in reality. And I have some problems with vestibule pole. Some rainfly tension belts were break-up near rivets with holes for poles.

Customer Service

I buy this tent in US and in my country we don't have manufacture customer service.
I don't know where is nearest service in Europe too.

I use my made tent. It is more more lighter.
But it is not so strong and comfortably in bad weather conditions.

I bought mine about 12 years ago. I was originally interested in this tent because it had the best floor area to weight ratio for a 3-person tent. But it was the swift clips that sold me. It goes up fast and it never leaked, Some years back, I washed it in a mild soapy bleach solution (I don't know if this is recommended by anyone...) and it came out looking like new! I also like the cathedral-like ceiling and brightness inside. Great for three and spacious, although heavy, for two.

Great tent, have had it for about 4 years now. Been mostly outwest, and northern michigan. Different climates and areas and it works great in both. Easy to set up, good options. Highly recommend.

Superb tents! The stretch dome is very light for its size. The clip system makes it a breeze to set up, and the shape offers good use of space. I have used this tent from california to alaska, and it has worked flawlessly. The only complaint that I have is that the short pole for the vestibule is easy to lose, and mine only had one door.

I owned my Stretch Dome for going on 5 years now. It has seen numerous Scout trips, family vacations and hunting trips (both solo and with a partner), and has never failed me yet. The ventilation has always been sufficent enough that condensation has never been an issue - even on a -20 night. I also have sat through a two day storm an managed to stay dry. I can set the tent up by myself in the dark in less than 5 minutes. I believe that the newer ones have two doors, which would be a big plus. If you can only afford one tent, this is it.

This is a great tent. I have had it for about three years and have experienced every type of weather. No problems. The set up is easy and quick and you stay dry when you are inside.
