Great tent. Been abusing this shelter for about 4 years now. All year round it is very tough and stable. The large fly gives you serious storage in the vestibules. Using the ground cloth and rain fly alone saves lots of weight for hot weather sleeping. Used mostly in the Pacific Northwest, keeps you dry through the toughest rains and wind. Usually used for 2-3 people and 2 large dogs, and yes condesation can be an issue with that much hot breath, opening the roof window a bit helps this. It is a bit heavy especially if wet, but the protection is worth it.

Customer Service

Have had to send it back once for some repairs to the pole sleeves. Problem was not a workmanship issue, during a windstorm we had a tree fall on the tent. Customer service was fast and the alsy patched any holes that wer in the tent/mesh.

This tent has been incredible! We camped outside of Buena Vista, CO and my buddy and I were the only dry people. We were camped at 9,000 feet at the base of several 14-ers, with pea sized hail the norm. This tent held up perfectly! My brother-in-law was wet and miserable from his tent leaking. 40mph winds were the norm the whole week. Seems when I camp/backpack it ALWAYS rains, and rains hard! We're talking the radar is "red" over where we are. Never a problem. The front and rear vestibules are GREAT for leaving your boots outside and other items to save space. It comfortably (with lots of room left over) slept me (6'3") and my buddy who is around 6' and our 90lbs lab. I'd definately buy it again! The only thing I don't know about it is how it would do with a snow load. I suspect it would do pretty good even though it is a "3-season" tent. Best tent I've ever owned and I won't buy another unless we go camping as a family and I havee more kids!

Customer Service

Never needed to call North Face. You get what you pay for, buy cheap, you'll need the customer service, spend some extra coin and you won't have to.

This tent is famed for its resistance to rain and wind. Welcome to England! I threw this in my luggage for a trip by train around the south coast and experienced some of the worst storms of the summer. We stayed dry and on hotter days the double doors and vents were great for cooling off when you don't have any shade. The tent is very roomy for two, and the mesh roof makes it less claustrophobic. I've also camped with two (short) girlfriends and we slept along the width rather than the length. It's best if the weight is split between two people if you're doing a lot of backpacking but even if you have to carry it, the extra room is worth it. There is a good deal of space between the inner tent and the fly to store boots, equipment etc. Basically this tent is great, takes no time to pitch and is good for idiots like me as the connections are color coded. The only reservation I have is the amount of condensation left over from early morning dew, but that dries up quickly once you open the vents.

Customer Service

Never had to call them.

Used this over the years and have had no problems. I used this tent at the Val Du Lakes campground in '98 during the summer sun music festival. 2 Tornadoes touched down within 2 miles of the site and the weather was as scary as it gets. The next morning looked like a war zone. Toppled trees, snapped poles, overturned porta potties, power out throughout western michigan. I even saw two roofs torn off of buildings on my way home. This tent held up like a tank, I handled ridiculous wind and driving rain without a single drip of water inside. I had the only standing tent out of about 3,000 people that were at the event. Kudo's to The North Face, I've had this for 6 years without a single problem. I just moved to Boulder, and feel safe using this tent in harsh mountain conditions.

Great 3-person tent. I've used it during a weekend of pouring rain and stayed very dry. The two doors and extra large vestible off the front door (back vestible isn't too shabby either) make stowing boots and other stuff super easy. Although I've moved up to self-inflated mats, I've fit a queen-sized air mattress in this tent. Holds up well in stong winds (20-30mph). Only complaint is there's always loads of condensation inbetween the fly and the tent when you wake up in the morning. Sometimes it drips down and sometimes I get lucky. I think NTF has compensated with a vent in their newer tents. The three-pole setup is extremely easy with the semi-continuous pole sleeves. My wife and I set up the tent in complete darkness without a problem.

Customer Service

No need to call - everything works great.

I just purchased this tent about a month ago and used it for a trip to the Pacific Northwest. The tent was excellent... The tent was totally dry inside after a day and a half of heavy rain... however, it was a little wet inside after some heavey dew one morning. The tent fit 3 guys easily. Setup is a cinch... takes 5 minutes. I'd recommend this 3-man to anyone, especially at the price I got it for. I can't wait to try it on a dry night so that I can leave the rain fly off to see the stars through the all-mesh top.

Excellent tent. We've slept 5 in this tent (if you're under 5'9" you can turn and sleep the 'short' way and pack 4+). I've used this in heavy rain, snow, at altitude, and as a family tent. Every time I pull it out of the bag, I smile.

I have try this tent for a 4 days trip. I that the extra 2 pounds divide in 2 person's pack is not a luxury. Moreover, the wall was not wet at wake-up instead of the most of the other tent I had. A great purchase

Excellent tent. Has stood up to every weather condition we have had it in, from heavy rain to a snow storm. No leakage problems, we sealed all seams with the included seam sealer. Stands up extremely well to high winds. In a storm it is very quite inside and comfy. Rated as a 3-season tent, but we have used it in snow and it works great. Roomy for two people with a large vestabule for storing big packs and wet boots. Bought tent on sale for $170.00, GREAT deal!

I bought this tent after becoming fed up with being cramped in my friend's bivy-style tent on our overnight hikes. I was willing to carry a little extra weight for more room. The Cumulus was, it turns out, an excellent choice. On the first outing we got caught in steady, sometimes heavy rain from late afternoon through morning, yet, except for a little condensation inside the tent, stayed warm and dry. All gear fit easily under the two vestibules, and the two doors were wonderful, especially in rain, when you don't want to be climbing all over things when entering and exiting. The roominess, combined with the two doors, made the tent a nice place to be with another person for hours on end. No claustrophobia whatsoever. The tent held up well in strong wind on Hermit's Peak in the Pecos Wilderness. Without the rain flap, the mesh roof provided great stargazing and ventilation. I paid $258 for the Cumulus, and am totally satisfied.
