A good filter. Puumps fairly fast. Clogs/jams fairly easily when taking water from moderate to high silt locations making pumping very hard to impossible. Members of crew with Sweetwater pumps had significantly better results with no cloging. Customer Service None |

My experience with this filter has been decent. It does a good job of filtering water, but all filters should do that. It was relitively easy to use, but it would be nice if it had a lever action pump handle or a more sturdy way to rest the base like the scout has. The other thing that bothers me is that there is no way to tell when the filter needs to be replaced and no relief mechanism if you pump too hard. Bacterial push-through sounds unpleasant to me. Finally, the pre-filter is just some foam rubber--pretty chintzy for a $70 product. Although this review has focused on the negative aspects of the filter, it was good in every other way, so overall I was pleased with it. Bought this filter for its light weight and relatively easy pump action. I didn't think I needed the iodine since I climb/backpack in the U.S. but it was on sale for same price as the Hiker. Will probably replace the filter with a Hiker filter when it clogs. Have used it only once in the wilds, but so far I'm pleased with it. Similar Products Used: Sweetwater Guardian |

I upgraded my hiker (5 stars!) to voyager for a trip to africa. I was concerned because iodine makes me nauseated. Initially the taste was awful but PUR customer service was very helpful and sent me a free stop-top charcoal filter - now tastes great, barely an iodine taste. No nausea! Customer Service Unbelievably good. Immediate informative email responses. Similar Products Used: iodine pills and other chemical purifiers. |

This is a great product. I have an old style Hiker with the T handle that I converted to a Voyager. It has never failed me and I have used it quite a lot. I would highly recommend this product. Customer Service I called PUR to find out what type of lube to used on the pump. They sent me the lube free of charge and included a new pump handle, also free of charge. Took it to SIberia, glad to have it, clogged once after especially nasty pond. What I did filter I couldn't bring myself to drink anyhow, but kept it incase I was about to die before reaching the next waterhole. Good product, keep a spare filter on you if you are in East Asia.
