After a 5 day trip in the Smokey Mountains I can give a good review of this product. Everything worked well. I got to compare it side by side with my friends sweetwater pump. I found that mine had a better prefilter and had the carbon stop top (which helps with the taste). His had a better pumping action but was probably subject to possible failure in the future (more moving parts). Both worked well and either would be a good choice. Be careful what you are pumping into. I used platypus containers. They were terrible. They broke easy and retained a murky residue in the bag. I now have a Camelback bladder. I have had great previous success with them because of mountainbiking. Customer Service No experience with customer service but replacement filters cost about $35 apeice. This product really works. I tried it using the water from a local river(Salt River) which is mainly used for water supply to Phoenix and for recreational purposes. The water is pretty nasty. After running it through, it's actually pretty good. However, I don't like the floater on the end of the intake tube. Hard to keep the hose in the water. Priced right! Similar Products Used: None |

I purchased the PUR Voyageur in August to use backpacking out in Colorado on the Colorado Trail. I enjoyed using it. It made the water taste better than some well water we found. It maintained a constant flow of water while pumping. It was easier to use if you had two people while pumping from a stream, then one could hold water bottles and the other could concentrate on the pumping and observing of the inlet if in shallow water. It was compact enough to bring with and was encouraging to know we would have potable water whenever we needed it. Similar Products Used: None |

In my totally biased opinion - the best filter out there. I've used this ""head to head"" with MSR and Sweetwater. While they were all cleaning their filters, I was filling my second 3 gallon dromidary (sp?) bag. This 'test' was done in a fine silt bottomed lake. I have had no problems with this filter. Just be aware the first few gallons will have a strong iodine taste, after that it lessens (or you get used to it). I also like the fact that you can switch out the filter for the level 2 protection of the Hiker. I've heard of people breaking the handles on these, but as long as you do even, controlled strokes, you should have no problem. The only drawback is the filter is $40 to replace, so stock up if you find them on sale. Customer Service Pur is the same company that millions of households turn to for filtered tap water - this company is a water filter/purifier company through and through. This purifier has been with me for about ten full days of backpacking in the Sierras this year. It works great and packs away very small and light. It comes in a little gray stuff bag. I added a 3 Liter plastic water bag, just roll it up and slip it into the stuff bag with the purifier. My only complaint is that it can be difficult to grip while you are using it. While sitting on top of a rock beside a raging river you have to hold the purifier in one hand, pump the handle with your other hand, then trap the thing you are filling (bag or water bottle) with your feet. Similar Products Used: I have not used any others for comparison but by checking specs, this one appears to be the smallest, lightest, and has a reasonable force level. |

I have had this filter for 18 months. It has never given me any trouble and I have never gotten sick from water pumped through this purifier. Similar Products Used: Used a filter that was impossible to pump and gave up on it. Found the Voyageur through a friend who let me borrow his. Bought my own the day after I got home. |

nothing beats a purifier - especially this one! it is light, easy to use, and best of all, cheap. when on the trail, there's nothing that makes friends like a litre of filtered water for a fellow backpacker on the trail! |

Awesome filter. Puts out better water than I can find most anywhere. I've had mine for a few years and it has worked great. Good output, great taste, and great for backpacking and Biking. Customer Service Never have needed to use customer service- no problems with the filter. Similar Products Used: none- this one has lived up to all of my expectations and beyond! |

I have had mine for two years now and it still is working great on the first filter. It pumps smoothly, efficiently, and I've never gotten sick. What else can you ask for? Customer Service If you put a coffee filter over the acorn pre-filter, this will help your filter cartridge last longer. Similar Products Used: None |

What more to say? It pumps fast and cleanly, it gets rid of the worst bugs in the worst water, it doesn't clog, it doesn't leave iodine taste in your water, it;s light and very simple, it's the only brand to buy in water filters. Excellent product Similar Products Used: None |
