One of the best I have ever used. I started on the BD Bod harness but it was uncomfortable and bunched over my ski cloths. But in my oppinion Petzl out did them selfs. It is so versitile in adjustability and use. It is also by far the most comfortable harness I have ever used.

Customer Service

Petzl Is great and very friendly. I cant say anything about the customer service I never needed it.

This harness is the best one I have owned. It is so easy to put on and buckle up since you don't have to double-back on the waist buckles.

Just slide it on, pull the straps, tuck them into the plastic strap retainers and off you go. When I have to replace this one, I'll get another one.

The price on this harness also seems to have come down since I bought mine 3 years ago. But what is cost when your life depends on it. Ya get what you pay for.

After using the Gourou for the first time, I knew that I would be using it for a long time. My last harness was some cheap Blue Water and the thing that made the biggest difference between the two was the leg straps. My Blue Water had weak leg straps that would bind me up. The Gourou lets me breath. It's padding is excellent. That is a high priority for me. It's a quality product that everyone for every use should try. I guess it's more for sport-climbing in my opinion, because when you fall, the padding really helps out. It doesn't make the fall as stiff. It's also comfortable for mountaineering too. Buy this harness.

I mostly gym climb, and this harness hasn't let me down yet. Easy to put on, take off, and adjust. It is comfortable as hell and you don't even know it is on sometimes. I highly recommend it despite the steep price.

This harness was very good to me. Despite the foam coming "unstuck" from the waist belt (petzl really screwed up there), it is quite a harness. The onehanded, non-backthrough buckles are wonderful for tighening and loosening at will. The gear loops on this harness are a matter of personal preference. The formed plastic tends to scratch my wrists on a light load, but they stay in place very nicely, and dont flop around at all. The padding on the waist loop and legs is outstanding, but can get a little hot if youre hangin in the sun. Great harness!!

Customer Service

The problem I described above (the foam coming unstuck) was VERY quickly and easily resolved. I emailed Petzl at 2 am, and my phone rang when I got back from classes at 11, informing me that they were sending out a new harness to replace mine THAT DAY!!! Thumbs up to Petzl

The Gouru is probably the best all-around harness made. That is until it's replacement, the Calidris, has arrived. The entire Petzl line is now revamped and the new harness has a new look with some new features but still keeps it's status as the 'best'. New slanted gear racks work great to bring gear forward. The new shape makes it even more comfortable. A small hole used for a single carabiner to rack ice screws works real well, except I wish it held the 'biner tight. This harness will be a little cooler to wear than the old Gouru, which has always been my complaint with the old harness.

I am a backpacker and most of my climbing has been indoors for recreation. This is my third harness and I have to say I love it.
If you are getting started buying this harness first will actually save you money in the long run. I did not want to spend alot of money and in turn ended up buying three harnesses before I found this one. This harness is so verstile and durable.

The best mountaineering harness out there. Super durable. Double-back buckles are literally a lifesaver. Dropable leg loops makes doning layers and answering the call safe and easy. Neoprene padding is comfortable and does not absorb water. Downside? Price!

If I could marry this harness I would. It's really comfortable, and it is surprisingly light. You get what you pay for in this harness, the only problem with it is that their isn't a full strength haul loop.
