Love the auto doulble back bucklesfor ease of use, although due to only the two sizes have problems with the buckles digging in to stomach when weighted. The size range put the large too big but the smaller size is at the extreme for me (being 5'8" and 180lbs). The padding barely covers the buckle enough and if it doesn't reach that far then I would recommend choosing carefully. Otherwise love it for comfort in legs and back.

Solid performer with a high degree of adjustablity and comfort. The quality of the material, the construction and the relatively oversized look add to it and extra sense of security and reliablity. Though it is definitly not cheap, it is worth the extra mula.

Love the doubled back staps. That was the reason that I purchased the Gourou and it is feature that I continue to love. It harness is very simple to use, doesn't get too twisted about and is overall comfortable. I have used it for rock and ice climbing and for snow travel and it works equally well for all three. The only thing that I find in that it loosens up on me at times- especially if it gets wet. Nevertheless, I would highly recommend it.

The best mountaineering harness I've found. Unparalleled adjustability, closed cell foam padding for comfort without water absorption, and those life-saving no double back buckles. It also performs well on ice and trad rock. It may be a little heavy for sport and not padded enough for big wall. The only major drawback is the price.

This harness is very comfortable, but only if it is adjusted just right. I had some problems with it because the foam is not very flexible. Im not a fan of the plastic gear loops, mainly because I am scared to loose my rack if I fall (they have a 5 kg rating). As with most petzl products, its overpriced; get it on sale :)

Customer Service

On the first harness I got, the foam came de-laminated within 2 weeks of recieving it, under gym climbing conditions. I called petzl, and they said it was a known design flaw (lack of stitching in that area), and they sent me another one with a return tag and no problems at all. Very happy :)

All in all it works excellently. Ample padding for a short sit in the harness, however sore spots arrise after 10 to 15 minutes of full weight in harness. Buckle system is convienent yet takes a while to get used to.

The Gourou is extrememly comfortable. The molded padding is very soft but still seems to be holding up well. The harness is pretty expensive, but the comfort factor (at least for gym climbing) is well worth the price.
