I use the Petzl Roc for swiftwater rescue and technical rock rescue. For these purposes it is wonderful. It drains fast, is lightweight, and comfortable to wear for extended periods. The 4 point strap and knob adjustments are great. I can't imagine any improvements to this basic, yet, well design helmet.
For swiftwater work, wear some color other than white. From a distance, a white helmet looks like white water.

This helmet has been standard issue for all types of climbing and caving too and still holding up well. The adjustment dials are a great feature. A little more expensive than the other helmets (except for the Meteor I guess) but was the most comfortable. Headlamp clips work well.

I have used this helmet for two years for caving and it's probably the only piece of equipment that I like 100%. The fit is easily adjustable so you can wear a cap underneath or let somebody else use it.

My Petzl Ecrin Roc has served me extremelly well. I have the white version, and it has been very useful to me even in the hotter months of the year climbing in Las Vegas area. The ventilation is very good, and the helmet is light weight and doesn't weigh you down, even after hours and hours of wearing. The best feature is the thumbwheel adjustments. I can wear the helmet in the early morning with a watch cap when it is cold, and as the day warms up or your climb moves into the sunshine, you can take the cap off and adjust the helmet in seconds. I haven't had anything drop on my head yet, and hope never to experience that, but I'm sure this helmet will do its job if it ever occurs.

Buy this helmet! I've used this trusty companion for rock and ice climbing. It takes a beating, particularly from falling ice! and absorbs impacts well. I find the Ecrin to be lightweight, comfortable, and easy to adjust, even with mittens or thick gloves. I can wear it for long periods of time and doesn't get heavy or uncomfortable. But its always nice to take off at the end of a long day!

Very light wieght, easily adjusts quickly, fits well over caps and can take a beating. I do not know what more you could want in a helmet- except maybe it could look better on. :-)

Although the price may seem a little steep, this is the greatest helmet I have ever worn. Its adjustments are simple and I can even wear a winter cap underneath. The chin strap buckles on the side, so there is no bulky piece of plastic beneath your chin, and the bright red color would allow any overhead search vehicle to see me in the snow.

The most comfortable helmet that I have ever tried. Light enough to barely be noticed and the little wheels on the sides make for incredibily easy and quick adjustment. Fits nicely even over a hat or hood.

Absoluttely gorgeous!!! It's my favourite piece of equipment. Easy to adjust over a hat or a neoprene, I can wear it for more than 20 hours and forget about it. I use the Petzl Explorer, a helmet equiped with a Duo headlamp and an Aceto acetylene ditributer, all this has almost 1 kg and it still doesn't seems heavy. It's perfectly balanced and ventilated. Maybe it's a little bit too large. Anyway, it's the greatest helmet I've ever tried.
