I bought my fist pair of Dialogues in 2005 and used them right up to 2010, they were undamaged and still comfortable but getting so soft, I decided to upgrade. I looked hard at Flow and Burton boots - I loved the tying systems on these boots, but FLOW looked a bit weak while Burtons overpriced (Drop your prices on everything Burton) The Salomon Dialogues 2010-2011 model appealed to me, but from the start I was a bit pensive about the tying system - I finally bought them based on my past experience and price. I have used them hard now for 18 days and the tying system has the following problems - the inner liner cord lock system is very small and very weak - from the start I was unable to get it to lock the cord in, the outer shell cord is also very hard to tighten on the lower part of the boot, I think there is too much friction so the lace won't slide through the eyes, I put a ring there so I can give it a pull where needed, I am totally disappointed with the slow tying system - where other boot makers have taken a step forward Salomon has taken a step back.
On the upside, and maybe this is the most important point, comfort and support second to none, once you do get these boots tigthened and laced up properly you don't have to touch them for the rest of the day, on very cold days (Like minus 15 C) my feet did get cold but otherwise once warmed up these boots are cozy. Would I buy these boots again ? - NO unless Salomon improves their tying system, they have lost me as a customer and that is hard for me to say.

Over the summer, I bought a pair of 2005 Salomon Dialogues to replace the Burton Motos that I picked up last year when I started riding. The difference was astounding. To begin with, the lacing system on the Dialogues is genius. Pure genius. Any boot you can lace up that tight, standing up, without even taking your gloves off is designed well. Adjusting the boot after the first ride up the lift takes seconds, not minutes. That alone was enough to make me fall in love with them. But it doesn't stop there. The retailer I purchased them from is kind enough to heat mold them when you purchase them, and this makes them comfortable enough to ride all day long, several days in a row, without any foot pain. No blisters, no raw spots. No heel slippage. Ever. They're a pretty stiff, supportive boot, and they really gave me a much greater feeling of control than I got from my Burtons. They really, really telegraph your intentions to the board clearly, and with a great deal of finesse. I generally put them on before leaving my cabin, and they're comfortable enough to drive in for 30 minutes or so. There's a problem, though. Yesterday, the topmost lace eyelet on the left side of the left boot snapped as I was putting them on. I was still able to lace them up tightly enough to ride the whole afternoon, but I went ahead and took them in to the shop today. I ended up replacing them with a pair of Salomon Malamutes (the next stiffest boot in the same line), mainly because they didn't have another pair of Dialogues in the right color. 2 of my other friends have Dialogues and love them, and my girlfriend has the Kiana, which I believe is essentially the female version of the same boot. I'd suggest using gentle, even force when lacing them up, rather than tugging suddenly, and maybe the eyelets will hold up longer than mine did. Except for that one solitary issue, these boots are perfect. I'd have had them repaired, rather than replaced, if there was any chance of getting them back before my next trip.

Had a problem with heel lift in my last boot so I decided to find a new one. Tried on the Vans BFB, Fargo, and the Dialogue. For someone like me with skinny ankles and narrow feet, the boot fit perfectly. Took them out riding for the first time and found them to be a bit stiff but I've read that they loosen up and could feel them loosening up by the end of a full day of riding. Regardless, had NO heel lift, absolutely none. Felt much more comfortable by the end of the day and give great support. Awesome boot.

Strength:

This boot features incredible support and comfort. Fast and easy entry/exit and after 8 hours of riding my feet don't hurt at all. The liners keep my feet very warm, they even sweat. Also the liners cinch up very tightly for great ankle support thanks to the new pullstring design. The boot is very easy to put on and get tight thanks to the new pull-lace design. No more bloody fingers trying to tighten the laces. They don't ever loosen up while riding either. The lacelock at the ankle helps alot with this. Take my advice and try out these boots. They are so comfortable and easy to use. There is no doubt in my mind that these are one of the best boots made today.

Weakness:

Only small weakness is the elastic lacepull holders on the sides stretched out very easily and no longer hold the lacepull. I just tuck it into the boot gaiters on my boarding pants.

(Review for 2003 boot)After breaking my ankle last year in the Airwalk 2001 C4 boots, I decided to get something better with more support. This is the first boot I tried and I am so glad I did.

Strength:

Perfect fit if you have wide feet, with high instep and not a very thick ankle. Lacing system that does not loosen.

Weakness:

Possibly a bit weak top plastic lace lock. People have been reporting breaking the. I guess, I just need to use less force, especially because the boot is so easy to lace up.

This is an awesome boot. I tried it in a shop and my first impression was right - this boot is what I needed. My foot is relatively wide and my instep is high, but my ankle is pretty skinny. That made it very hard to find the right boot for me. My big problem always was - too tight around the toes and midfoot and too loose around the calf. This boot solves this problem perfectly. It gives some room to move those toes while on the lift; but then you tighten your straps around the bottom of the foot and ankle for good control. At the same time, the boot is very snug around the calf, even with inner laces untied. I was amazed at the way the top portion of the boot conforms to the calf after you tie the inner laces. The play is virtually eliminated. Dialogue is extremely easy to lace up. I can actually feel my fingers after I lace them up, and my usual struggle with tying the laces twice around the top of the boot has been eliminated. The greatest thing is that I did not need to retie the boot during the day as the lacing system did not loosen through the day at all! The pressure around the whole boot is nicely distributed without any hard places or seams that could give you blisters. Overall, a fantastic boot for a very decent price.

Strength:

Very little heel lift Warm Conforms well to foot shape Fits my narrow feet Super-slick lacing system

Weakness:

Didn't quite pack out as much as expected. Helper strap broke (partially my fault, but could have been stitched better)

When I first got into boarding I picked up some cheap Nitro Magnas at a gear swap figuring they'd at least get me by for a season or two while I learned how to ride. After enduring an entire winter with numb, cold toes and aching calves I decided a change was necessary. I went out with the intent of finding the best boots for me no matter the cost. Upon reading some reviews on this site I decided a pair of Dialogues would definitely be on the roster of candidates. After trying Burton, K2, and Vans, it came down to the Salomons. The one thing you have to make sure of is to hang out in the boot for 5-10 mins before really deciding whether or not it feels right. The liner is meant to form to your foot every time you put it on utilizing body heat to soften up the inner boot. It fealt a little funky around my ankle upon first slipping it on, but 5 mins later it fit like a glove. I wear a size 10.5 men's in a shoe but picked up 9.5 in these boots. I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I should have gone with a 10. I got a little pack-out after a while but I had expected more. Some days my toes are fine and others they get just a little bit achy by the end of my runs. I also have pretty narrow feet and these fit me really well. The inner boot lacing system is very good and very comfortable while still holding your heel firmly where it's supposed to be. One thing I would suggest is taking the inner boots out, slipping them on, and then hopping into the shells. I find it much easier than getting into and out of the boots while they're together. I ultimately broke one of the helper straps on the back of one boot by pulling on it too hard while try to shove my foot in. I've heard complaints about people breaking their lace-lock eyelets. I do agree with most though that these could probably be made out of metal and still perform the same duties. Overall I think the lacing system is excellent. You can crank yourself into these boots like nothing else you've used with such little effort. Overall these boots are a solid buy and I'd recommend them to anyone looking for a good pair of boots that give you solid control without feeling like a vice strapped to your foot.

Strength:

Great heel hold, you won't notice your heel moving at all. No pressure points. I have the orange and black ones and they look awesome. Easy lace up system with excellent hold, lace them at the beginning of the day and you won't need to touch them till you take them off at the end of the day. Nice and comfortable to walk around in.

Weakness:

Being picky, at the toe of the boot, the 's' in salomon fell off after the first day. Also the handle you use to tighten the laces sometimes falls out of its elastic holder during the day. Also at first the boot seemed a little stiff but after a few runs they feel just right.

This boot is so comfortable you'd think you are wearing a pair of joggers. A bit pricey but you won't regret paying that little bit extra for a superior boot.

Your ready for the mountain while all your fellow riders are looking for band-aids. In and out very quick with no more lacerations about the paws.

Weakness:

If you find one, YOU B!TCH WAY TOO MUCH. IT''S NOT THERE.

I had reservations about getting into a new boot. The first time I laced these bad boys up all my insecurites were over crushed and conquered. These boots were amazing, just trying them on at the suggestion of the slaes satff at an amazing board shop had me hooked. When lacing up boots one''s hands tend to get mauled in the process, not anymore. Just pull the rip cord and your in, not some fancy gimmick, it works. Pull the laces tight and they lock right in, then tuck the plastic handle right into the designated holder and your ready too rip $#!% up.

Inner lace up liner and lace lock Inner liner heel hold Outer shell lace design with handle Outer shell has 2 lace locks (ankle/top)

Weakness:

None really, except they can be pricey if you don''t get them on sale.

These are awesome boots. After struggling with boots that were too soft and boots that were too big, the Dialogues were the answer! The inner lace up liner is great. Just pull up on the string, then lock it, and your foot is snug. The liner also has these two little lumps which fill up the area on the left and right of your achilles tendon, preventing heel lift. The lacing system on the outer shell is the best i''ve seen by far. No more ripping up your hands trying to get the laces tight. The laces come with a nifty plastic handle which you can just pull up to tighten. The two lace locks at the ankle at at the top of the boot secure the tension in the laces, so you don''t have to worry about them slackening up when you tie up the top. This boot is a bit stiff at first, but after a couple of uses, I can feel it softening up and breaking in a bit. The liner is also very supportive and that helps during a long day of riding. These boots have not given me ANY heel lift whatsoever. They run a bit big. I bought a size 9, and usually wear a 10.5 sneaker.
