Mountain Hardwear Gore WindStopper Tech Jacket Fleece Tops

Mountain Hardwear Gore WindStopper Tech Jacket Fleece Tops

DESCRIPTION

Polyester reinforcements at the shoulders and neck resist pack-strap abrasion; along the arms they protect against the grind of rock and ice. Extra-long pit zips (backed by an inner flap) align with those in our shells for effective venting; the front zipper has a no-snag draft flap. Articulated elbows assure unrestricted freedom of movement. Two generous chest pockets and two zippered security pockets (one in, one out) provide convenient storage. Comfortable Power Stretch cuffs will not absorb moisture.

I received this as a christmas gift from a physician I was working for. It's a nice jacket with a ton of features. Thin so it can be used with a shell, windproof enough to wear skiing, vents enough to use it cross-country skiing, and repels rain enough for light showers. The nap is shedding on my collar, which may be from over-wearing. Great jacket, although a bit over-priced.

I used to use the Alpine Chill Factor jacket from MHW, but I now use this jacket. Although the Chill Factor is a great jacket, this one is superior (of course it costs more too).

It is the most versatile piece of equipment on the market. It fits great and it looks great too. Because it is so thin, it makes a great layering garment under a shell jacket.

I would highly recommend this jacket to anyone who is wanting the highest quality and the most versatility in a jacket. Thanks MHW for such first-class workmanship.

I first saw this jacket about a year ago, and was blown away by its features. Finally, I bought it a few months ago. I love the comfort and versatility of this jacket. MH have hit the nail on the head with fit and design. I can wear it comfortably in a wide range of conditions because of the pit zips, full front zip, and the moderately high collar and drawstring bottom. The arms could be longer, but I have that problem with a lot of clothes, and this jacket does better than others. If you are after a highly versatile windproof jacket, look no further than this one. Others just dont seem to cut the mustard.

I love this coat. It is the single most versatile piece of equipment that I own. I bought it to battle the winter winds in Iowa, but it's uses have gone far beyond. I can use it as an outer shell, an insulating shell under my down coat, in conjunction with a wool sweater for the truly cold days, orunderneath a waterproof coat when it is raining. I have beat on it for the past three years and it is great shape. I liked it so much that I convinced my girlfriend that she needed one for herself (she wound up getting the females version). It is a little pricy, but you can get leverage when dealing with stores if you find it for less on the internet. If you are looking for a fleece, look no further. This is where it's at.

What a tough jacket! I bought this jacket to fight the cold, sleet and snow during my morning job this winter as a bicycle courier and I couldn't have picked anything better. Wearing only a t-shirt undernieth the jacket I was as snug as a bug in a rug. It is reinforced in all the right places with the exception of the lower back. All of my other jackets and vests are rubbed raw in that location from my pack. The jacket looks nice, the Gore Windstopper works excellent, I like everything about it.

This jacket is awesome for hiking on cool or cold days when you get too warm for a shell. It is light and comfortable - even with a full pack on top it doesn't bunch up.
I wear it all the time instead of a bulky regular fleece to keep from overheating and
having to change layers. Even when you stop for a hiking break it keeps the wind off of you so you dont have to put on a shell while you rest. It sheds rain well unless you get a real downpour. The best hiking fleece I have owned.

Have you ever been hiking and felt the breath of a cold wind as it blows right through your jackey, and puts goosebumps on your skin? Well I had and so I said this would be the last time. I splurged and purchased the Gore Windstopper Tech jacket. And I love it! It is very stylish and it really does keep the wind out, even though it appears to be quite thin. To add for warmth I just went to Old Navy and bought one of their performance fleece's. I wear this underneath and I'm as snug as a bug in a rug! I'd suggest this coat only for those that spend at least one day a week in cold weather.

This jacket is well suited for an insulator layer or outerwear. The WindStopper properties makes it MUCH warmer that it looks like it should be. Great ventilation zones. Combined it with a heavy fleece base layer, you should be comfortable in freezing windy conditions. Add a technical shell, and you will be ready for anything short of BRUTAL conditions.(assuming leg and head protection) Some may prefer to insulate with a 200 or 300 fleece, but you have to leave your shell on for wind protection. If you want maximum versitility, this is great technical piece. All top shelf technical wear is expensive, and this is no exception. Do not confuse price with value.
