Burton Canyon Freeride

Burton Canyon Freeride

DESCRIPTION

The wide version of the legendary Jack of All Trades, the Canyon is a Custom in disguise. With light weight, Carbon I-Beam-fueled snap, and a sidecut that doesn’t make bigger feet suffer, the Canyon stands alone in a sea of scaled-up pretenders. Sintered Base: Holds wax, is durable, and moves right along. Lite Triax: Light weight and torsional stiffness. Carbon I-Beam: Lots of snap; stop using cheater jumps to get on handrails. Super Fly II Core: Light, strong, and lively flex. Dualzone EGD: Precise edge hold.

Strength:

Its a Burton. Its wide for those cursed with big feet. Its fast. Its stable.

Weakness:

Luckily got the 158 which has pretty cool graphics (they grow on you). Fortunatly avoided the 162 Green model which sucks ass. Top deck has taken a bit of a hammering in the lift cues but no more prone to damage than any other boards out their.

Sweet board, awesome for powder, sits up and cruises like a dream. Equally at home carving down icey courderey or jibbing rails. Nice and wide and good stiffness gives good pop and makes landings a breeze.

Strength:

Stable at high speed (easy to get there too) and really holds the edge on ice. Fairly easy to pop off the kickers too.

Weakness:

I got the green one with what looks like a dope leaf on the base. Truly ugly graphic. Often doesn't fit in the board holder on the cable lifts.

First board I've owned and been riding for 3 years. I guess because of my level I found it quite difficult to get used to. I'm 90Kg and 6'2 so I guess just on the small side for this 162 and probably the cause of the difficulty. Only took 2 days to get as good as on a narrower board though. Bend those knees!

Strength:

This board inspires confidence on fast runs and especially on those little trails you get between lifts and the top of runs. Also it holds a great edge on the ice

Weakness:

Its a bit big for my car roofrack. I needed a new board bag previous board was a 171

I am 6ft6inches tall weigh 112 kg and have size 13 boots. Therefore when I was shopping for a new board i needed one that was stable at all times and could accomadate my frame. After a lot of testing from the guys in St-Anton I purchased the 181 Burton Canyon. This board was simple to ride easy to control and when its this big nobody is going to steal it. Getting Air with this baby is also real easy and its bigger than most people skis, one over on them to

Strength:

Stiffness, Stabile, lightweight. Nice print.

Weakness:

None at the moment

I used the Canyon 162 in combination with Mission SI''s. I have big feet, so I needed a wide board. Perfect glide because of the board surface

Strength:

Stiff enough to use every day, and very comfortable at speed.

Weakness:

I''''d rather pick up some weight if they used a topsheet that wasn''''t chipping like it was made of glass. . .and I''''m not one for graphics, but this is one ugly board.

Well, it rides well, but the construction is garbage. Does well in powder, and on the hardpack, but I can''''t see it lasting a very long time (definately not going to make 100 days). Today, I got two pretty good size chips in it, and expect to see quite a few more. . . and I was riding groomers when I got the second chip. Hopefully with a little epoxy I can keep it from delaminating. So, the moral of the story is it''''s a good board for soft powder, but for anything else it''''s not going to last very long.
