I love my Dragonfly.. After hearing all the hype for over a year, I had to splurge and buy one. I wasn't disapointed. It simmers 100 times better than my old Feather 400, which I thought simmered pretty well, until now that is. Burns just about anything.. Safety valve in the pump is a great feature.. But the pump cost is high due to this fact.. It'll come down in time, economies of scale. Customer Service None whatsoever.. That's the best part about this stove, you can get all the parts you can possibly need.. Similar Products Used: Coleman feather 400 Coleman ultralight propane/butane mix MSR whisperlite shakerjet |

I bought this product for its multi-fuel functionality. We completed a 4 month journey across Central Asia but the stove failed miserably. We had to buy a used stove in North Pakistan (a hard thing to find). Basically the stove couldn't handle all different fuels we had to use. The simmer grooves became corroded and a strong flame couldn't be maintained. Had a couple of hungry days in very remote places due to this. Inside the developed world its probably a great stove. But if you really need a robust product - look elsewhere. I think the XKG or a Sigg is a safer bet. Similar Products Used: MSR XKG Coleman Trangia |

I bought this stove last spring.. I LOVE IT. The flame control is great.. from a bic lighter flame to a raging inferno... a note to the multi fuel users.. there is different nozzels u have to change to chage fuels.... the wrong nozzle=clogged. I have used this stove to simmer Rice at 13500 feet and to cook ground beef here at home...(when we lost power).. the legs hold the pot far away from the flame to prevent scorching but still boils a quart of water in under 3 mins... The Bad: Expensive. Noisy enough that I always sigh with relief when I turn it off (have to raise my voice significantly when it's on). I've had some problems keeping it running in a wind (next to a WhisperLite Int.) --- it has an adequate windscreen, but it's quite picky about it! The Good: Pretty stable (much better than WhisperLite) even with really big pots and at funny angles. Very light. Excellent flame control. Stays clean after priming (as opposed to the Whisper which gets soot all over it). Boils fast (tiny bit slower than Whisper but still superb). Over all: If you can stand the noise, get this stove. Customer Service Asked MSR about the wind problem, and they told me to send it right back (no postage, though). I looked into the problem further and decided to keep it (I think it is just a finnicky design). Similar Products Used: MSR WhisperLight Internationale, very very old Primus that looks like a modern-day Optimus 111, some time with Colemans f various sorts... |

I have used the MSR Dragonfly for 2 years and taken it on two major trips to the Bowron Lakes, B.C. and on the Longrange Taverse in Gros Morne National Park, Newfoundland. It is the third and best stove I have owned. It has high output and yet simmers very well. The only draw back, if it is one, is that it is very loud. I highly recommend it. |

This is an excellent stove. It boils prodigiously fast, simmmers, and sounds like a rocket booster. My only problem is the windscreen, which is terrible. The doughnut shaped piece that surrounds the burner incinerated totally the first time I used it (a calm summer day in Kentucky). Then this fall, the main windscreen burnt up at 11,000 feet on Long's Peak in a blizzard. With half a dozen holes in the windscreen and very high winds above treeline the stove would not light at all, and I had to cut short my trip. Relace the windscreen immediatly if you camp in any sort of weather. I found an aluminum pot the stove fits inside and sawed a slot for the fuel line. Hopefully this will work. Besides the windscreen, an awesome stove. |

I find the MSR Dragonfly to be a great stove in most aspects. However, dispite what the manufacturer says, it takes a too long to boil water. I've used it side by side with the Coleman Apex, Bluet,Svea and Primus stoves and it's always the last to boil. The only stove I have that takes may take longer is the MSR Whisperlite. Thinking I had a defective stove, I replaced it and had the same results. Similar Products Used: Coleman Apex, MSR Whisperlite, Svea, Bleuet, Primus |

This is the best stove I've used. The Dragonfly design has better stability and fuel efficiency than the MSR Wisperlite. Two valves for flame control instead of one. Burns well at high altitudes and is versatile, with a 6-fuel capability. The one thing that's a little disappointing is ignting the flame; you really have to master the MSR stove system. If you've used MSR before than this will be a piece of cake. I still love this stove--it's MSR's best! |
