Well I like the stove but it has its drawbacks. It broke on my friend and is pretty much worthless now, $80+ for a paperweight isn't worth it. Similar Products Used: MSR Whisperlite, Peak1 Extremem |

I purchased a Dragonfly for $85 last year and have been thrilled with it. Combined with an Ultralight Outback Oven and an MSR Blacklite cook kit, this unit will cook just about anything. While any stove will boil water (and this one does it pretty quickly), when it comes to baking a stove like the Dragonfly with its variable flame is essential (and the external tank eliminates the change of tank overheating). Customer Service I've never called MSR (although I own their stoves, filters, cook kits, trekking poles, etc.) and don't expect to. They do have a web site (www.msrcorp.com) that covers the basic tech support questions (although it could be more extensive). Similar Products Used: Various white gas stoves. |

Can't really say anything that hasn't been covered already. Side-by-side with the Whisperlite Int'l, the Dragofly's flame control puts the latter to shame. I use the Int'l to boil water, and the Dragonfly to cook - it's a great two-burner system. I always find myself shutting off the Dragonfly first to avoid the noise, though. I had this stove for 1.5 years. It's great for waking up your partners in the morning (it sounds like a jet engine). It's also a very good stove. It primes easily even at -20F. The simmering is great. I've used it for summer car camping to winter mountaineering trips. |

I love this stove. I have used it in some pretty horible conditions and it has lit easy, No crazy flares in the flash pan and it boils water fast no matter what fuel is used in it. IT is light. THe only thing I don't like about it is if you get a drop of water on the stove it smothers the flame and you have to relight it. The adjustiblity is second to none. It is really loud though. I lit it once and all of a suddne I had people looking around trying to find the jet that was gonna crsh on them. Great Job MSR Customer Service I wanted to know what the BTU output was and I e mailed the guy and he sent me a whole wack of info on BTU maximum burn times and other great technical info. I bought this stove several months ago and, overall, like it a lot. Highs--Boils quickly, simmers like a charm. Solid construction you can feel when in use. Hold full pots and frying pans well, especially those with ribbed bottoms. Lows--Lots of small parts, especially in the fuel pump. Will they hold up over heavy field use? Jury's still out on that one. Pricey, but if it holds up over time, I'm a believer. Customer Service Fuel pump was missing a washer that was indicated on the repair kit's instructions. Customer service was courteous about addressing my question. The washer that apparently is to fit in that particular part did not permit the pump to be reassembled securely. I went back to my favorite outdoor supplier and found that other DragonFly pumps on display did not have the washer inserted either. Now I'm really confused! Similar Products Used: None |

I purchased this stove after returning the XGK - I wanted a stove that with an adjustable flame, that could simmer without monkeying with the fuel botle pressure. I do love the stove, but it is a bit noisy. Very easy to prime, even in windy or cold weather, and cooks like a pro. Simmer to hard boil, thisone does it all. Fuel economy is incredible - a 1 liter fuel bottle lasted 6 days for a group of 6, cooking 3 meals a day! I don't think I'd recommend it for lightweight backpacking, but for expedition-style backpacking, or for group outings, it's definitely a winner. Stove came with a maintenance kit, and very detailed instruction manual. 2 years old, and no problems (I do perform minimal maintenance, as the manual suggests, and recommend it highly.) This is one great little cooker. If you are into cooking anything that requires regulation of heat this little guy will do the trick. My wife is a gourmet cook and can do things on this stove we could not do on others. It's smatt and compact yet it is stable enough to use with large pots for groups. Very economical with white gas, have yet to run short of fuel estimates. I love this stove. Absolutely NO problems. Similar Products Used: None |

Finally! An MSR stove that simmers! I have used the MSR Dragonfly stove on several trips now, and it is absolutely the best I have ever owned. I have been a die hard MSR fan for years, but I was always limited to meals that required only boiling water. With the Dragonfly's simmer control, that problem is solved. While the stove is a little unstable on it's own, I have found that MSR's stove stand adds stability without adding much weight. As always, the construction is top notch, and the stove is very easy to clean and maintain in the field. Overall, I think the Dragonfly is one of the best and most versatile stoves out there, and I plan on using mine on many trips to come. Similar Products Used: MSR Whisperlite |
