MSR WhisperLite Internationale 600 Stove Stoves

MSR WhisperLite Internationale 600 Stove Stoves

DESCRIPTION

Whether it's white gas, kerosene, jet fuel or automobile gasoline, the Whisperlite Internationaleâ„¢ takes it all and burns it easily. The secret is in the large diameter fuel line that lets you burn poor-quality fuel with less maintenance or cleaning than other so-called multi-fuel stoves. Like the Whisperlite Shaker Jet Stove, the Whisperlite Internationaleâ„¢ features a Shaker Jet needle, which automatically pushes out any excess fuel debris with a simple flick of the wrist.

Great for international backcountry adventures, backpacking, mountaineering, kayaking and camping

Windscreen, heat reflector, fuel pump and reusable stuff sack included 14 oz. (400 g.)

Had an early incarnation of this stove design, and it worked well for about two yrs. of moderately heavy use, but thereafter it had problems with clogging and low output that couldn't even be fixed after installing new parts from their repair kit, bringing it into REI for repair, etc. Now I have a new one (the 600) and after about 15 uses, it still works like a charm, but its long-term reliability is still not known to me. Also, you'd think that after all the complaints about this stove's inability to go to a low simmer setting, the engineering dept. would have by now come up with some solution to this limitation. All that negative stuff said, however, I must say that this is the best all-around stove out there due to light weight, good packability, strong output, and (if you get it on sale) good price.

This stove works quite well, and is easy to set up and tear down. I used it on a camping trip this summer, and had no problems with it. The only downside? I couldn't keep it!! that and it seems the flame guards seem kind of flimsy, and may break after a while. hope you can get new ones.

Never a problem with this stove; light, somewhat durable and always lights. It is limited by its inability to simmer right down

Excellent product, spent 15 days in Denali rain, rain, rain had no problems with start or cleaning. Fuel consumption was on par with manufactures predictions. When you need a lightweight all around stove this is the one!

I also own an 20 year old MSR multi-fuel that still works fine.

Like all MSR stoves, the whisperlite is great! It allows a simmer to a full blast blow torch with the simple turn of the knob. My only complaint is that it tends to clog somewhat easily. The shaker-jet has helped to eliminate the problem, but you still have to make sure you keep it clean. Otherwise, this is a great three season stove!

Had a Whisperlite for years (6 actually). Used it in the Himalias, the Karakoram mountains, the Russian Pamirs, my back garden, etc, etc, etc. Excellent - lights well, burns hot, doesn't go wrong. Not suitable for cooking inside a tent. The wind shield is a little on the destructible side.

Customer Service

You do not have to use MSR fuel bottles. Why pay more for them?

Like this stove a lot. Small, compact, easy to set up, burns anything short of yak dung. Stable base, no grippers however, but hasn't been an issue, thank goodness.

great stove. I've had it for 4 years now and I've never had a single gripe. used it everywhere from Denali to a state park in Iowa. It's covered with black soot, but that doesn;t keep it from burning like a champ. Easy to start, lightweight, straightforward. Okay, one gripe: it takes a long time to boil a pot o water. A long time = a lot of fuel. Otherwise, awesome.

This stove is great. It works whenever I need it. I've owned the stove for 2 years now, and so far I haven't had it fail on me. The shaker jet works great and keeps it unclogged. About 4 years ago I went on a 22 day trip in the Sierra Mts., in may. We used the stove 2 times a day for the entire 22 days and only had to clean it once. That's pretty impressive if you ask me. I love the fact that it burns just about anything you can throw at it. What a product!

Customer Service

I've never had to deal with customer service, because I've never had a problem with the stove.

nice and lightweight. has worked well in a variety of conditions, from very hot to well below freezing. seems to be very efficient using white gas. haven't tried any other types of fuel, but it's a comfort knowing that it's an option.
