MSR WhisperLite Internationale 600 Stove Stoves

MSR WhisperLite Internationale 600 Stove Stoves

DESCRIPTION

Whether it's white gas, kerosene, jet fuel or automobile gasoline, the Whisperlite Internationaleâ„¢ takes it all and burns it easily. The secret is in the large diameter fuel line that lets you burn poor-quality fuel with less maintenance or cleaning than other so-called multi-fuel stoves. Like the Whisperlite Shaker Jet Stove, the Whisperlite Internationaleâ„¢ features a Shaker Jet needle, which automatically pushes out any excess fuel debris with a simple flick of the wrist.

Great for international backcountry adventures, backpacking, mountaineering, kayaking and camping

Windscreen, heat reflector, fuel pump and reusable stuff sack included 14 oz. (400 g.)

A pitbull of a stove. Even in -5 deg whiteout conditions this stove held its own. This stove will work in the most demanding conditions, with easy and minimal care. The only draw back is you get two settings on and off. Boils water very fast even at high altitudes.Parts are cheap and easily replaced if worn or damaged.

The best travel/backpacking stove ever. I have had many prior but none since. Wish I could simmer without creativity though.

Very reliable, completely field serviceable stove. It functions well in both cold and wet conditions. One trick: prime the stove with Methyl Alchohol to keep stove free of soot. I've taken this stove all over the world and never had a problem. With a very small repair kit, you can fix any problem that may arise.

This Stove looked alright at the start, but then i realized how bad it really is. On my first trip with it, the crapy wire came loose, and the plastic parts all melted off. The stove caught on fire and we could not use it the entire trip. That day, we used my friend Primus multi fuel. This Stove rocks. its indestructable and a way better mountaineering dependable stove.

I have used this little stove for weekend trips into the mountains and desert. Have used it in the mountais for week long treks and found it to be a VERY reliable little stove which burns hot and efficiently. It used a lot less fuel than expected at higher altitudes (9000 and up). It is small, lightweight and reliable. Excellent stove. Can be a little unstable if cooking with frying pans or larger pots.

Customer Service

Had one of the shaker valves bend on one and REI replaced it without any problems, it was excellent customer service.

I have used this stove for everything from my 1st fourteener ascent in CO to motorcycle camping in WA and MT. It has been a great stove, although a little pricey. The ONLY problem I had was while pumping the stove, the handle completely came out of the pump. It STILL worked, though, just by sticking the handle back in, and not pulling very hard on the pump. It was replaced with no problem. I would have gone for a dragonfly, if they had it when I bought this stove. I would prefer an adjustable flame.

Customer Service

I bought it at REI in CO, and they replaced the broken pieces at REI in CA with no receipt and NO PROBLEMS! It was great customer service.

I first fell in love with this stove watching my friends use them in midwinter adventures in the Canadian Rockies. Now that I own my own, for about 5 years now, I am even more impressed. It has proven itself to be a reliable companion time and time again, rising to the occasion in everything from ice climbing Yoho in January to rock climbing in Joshua Tree. The stove melts snow in no time and brings water to a boil in a flash. Even with my delinquent maintainence, haven't so much as scrubbed the thing since I got it, it has never failed. Even the flareups have gotten smaller over the years! It is truly wonderful piece of machinery and a worthy adversary to any inclement conditions.

I've used my Whisperlite for several years now with no complaints. The important thing is to FOLLOW DIRECTIONS before using. It does everything I require in a backpacking stove which for the most part is boil water. It will simmer too, despite what others report, you just have to be vigilant and watch the flame.
Apart from following directions - MAINTENANCE is very important on this stove. While it will work away year after year without much care, if you want it to perform to its best, check the O rings regularly and lube them. The stove will be a pleasure to use and will also simmer better if this is done. Don't let happen to you what happened to me: I let the O rings get bad, was out in the middle of nowhere by myself, and the thing went up in a ball of flame. I always carry spare parts for this stove and replaced the knob O ring. I relit it and it flamed out again - another problem that I waited to fix when I got home. Needless to say, I torched an ensolite pad I was cooking on and was lucky I didn't set the woods on fire.
Maintain whether you think it needs it or not and this stove will last a lifetime.

Well, even will all these reviews I figured I would put in my 2 cents. I love this stove. It has served me well trip after trip with no problems. It is light, packable and works well at cold temps. Just make sure that the pump mechanism is screwed tightly into the fuel canister and that the stove is securely attached to the pump, or you'll end up with a real serious disaster. It is a blowtorch, but with practice it is not difficult to get the stove to simmer either. I have really enjoyed the hot meals it has provided. A fine piece of equipment.

Its been very reliable stove. the key is to keep it clean and learn that some of the regulation to a simmer as apposed to toarch has to do with how much preassure you pmp into the fuel tank
