This is my first self-purchased stove. I have only used it on one trip and I love it. It saved us during a small snow-storm in the Smokies. It's definitely one of the nicest stoves I have hiked with. |

I've ahd one for years. only drawback is an occasional flame up - just have to reach intothe fire and un hook it and let it burn out. Cooks a lot fast. Hold big pots pretty stable. Mine ahve hudnrfeds of hours on it and many hours used byu Scouts. In about 5 yeasrs I have repalced no parts nor done any matinenance (expect blown off the dirt).. Had it for about 4 months in which it worked great, but then one trip it decided to explode on me. every time I try to use it the gas leaks and it bursts into flames. :( |

The Apex 2 worked great for me. I picked one up on a trip to Australia and used it the entire 6 months that I was doneunder. I traveled with a friend who had a MSR Whisperlite and his was great to 'flash boil' water, but mine was much more useful in everyday cooking. I'm very happy with my investment. A bit bulky, but fits easily inside pots you are carrying anyway. Similar Products Used: None |

I have owned the Apex I stove for about 4 years now. It is very durable (just imagine what a troop of scouts can do to it), very reliable in all conditions, affordable, yet a little bulky. Its adjustability from simmer to boil is excellent, stability is great. Despite all the lighter, more compact stoves on the market I have stood by my companion. The Apex. Customer Service havent needed it. Similar Products Used: MSR Whisperlite, Gaz, Coleman Propane |

Great stove! I had it on a backpacking trip on the AT, it worked flawlessley. One of my buddies had a peak 1 canister variant, though light and compact it proved to be impossible to balance. The Apex however has a great low profile and extendeable legs for added support. Not to mention the fool-proof lighting or the incredible flame control. It is bulky and on the heavy side, but definitely a fair price to pay for the features. awesome stove, buy one! Similar Products Used: peak 1 multifuel |

Without a doubt, its the best stove on the market. Other stoves have higher BTU's, but do not have the control. They are also more difficult to light. Last year on a month long trip through the BWCA, the Peak 1 was the only one left working. We really put our gear through hell. torential rain peet bogs over ganite torrs really knocked things around. The Wisperlights, work well but no heatcontrol, also the priming cups lost there welds. Buy the end of the trip we were cooking for 6 over the one Apex1. Once back home we all bought the stove. Customer Service parts can be hard to find but once you have located a souce there is no problem getting spares |

Just over fill the prime cup a little and you have to be very carefull when lighting. Be sure to bring your first-aid kit. |

The stove always lights but it always flares. I need to cut the gas right after I light it due to the flame up. It always lights perfectly on the second try. I guess it needs to warm up; but, the directions says that it does not need to. It works great once you get it going correctly. I have used it below freezing when the wind was blowing at about 20 mph directly on the stove. Similar Products Used: msr, wlight |
