Summary:
The 990-3 is light and powerful rod that initially feels stiff, but the action is compromising. It is among the best 9 weight rods I have tried. By far the best travel rod in its class.
I have been saved many times by this rod when fishing in windy conditions (+30 mph winds). It really does deliver

Compares favourably with Winston, Redington, Powell, Scott and Hardy. The reel holder is only problem I have observed, albeit a significant one. I wish it was made in a 9,6 ' as well. Is too expensive in my view.

Customer Service:
No experience (and I own 5 SAGE rods)

Reviewed by: Anonymous User ,  50+ days a year , from Brick, N.J.

Summary:
This rod has been used primarly for Stripers on the Jersey shore however it works great for Albies, Bluefish, Bonefish when it's windy and the occasional Atlantic Salmon when I have the opportunity to fish for them.

Customer Service:
Excellent, never used it for this rod but previous experience has always proved that Sage is a first class company and stands behind their product

Similar Products Used:
Loomis GL3, Sage RPLX, Winston BL5 (no comparison and it cost more than the Sage)

a perfect striper rod, plenty of punch, handles the wind with ease, while i prefer winston's for trout, sage seems to have the saltwater thing nailed!

Customer Service:
never a problem with sage

Summary:
I love their rods in general. 10 wt and above in the RPLXi are the best rods for me. They really fit my casting style, but the 9 and below are too mushy for me

Customer Service:
Great. When I've used them their service has always been exceptional.

T&T Vector, Winston XTR
